Very good point very well put JC.
I always look for their results & I hope they win promotion I also hope we wont be playing them next season as we too win promotion, however if we dont I look forward to more excellent derby games between the two clubs with the Town winning them!
The past is the past & I have 30 odd years of great memories with EFC & 6 years of equally great memories with ETFC with lots more to follow I hope.
I enjoy "proper" friendly banter with many EFC fans on both our forums, with no insults or ridicule & as Jim says show them respect.

Gazza.Speaking as someone who obviously wants the best for his own club, why would you want a team that could well be a rival to ETFC for local resources, sponsership, paying spectators, the QE stadium..etc,to win promotion?I just don't understand the mindset. The very act of continuing the EFC franchise has, i believe, badly hindered our own clubs progress since our formation.A resurgance of form/funding/or the securing of a stadium in Enfield by EFC1893 could have very neagitve effects on our own club.Add to that the fact that their fans ignored a democratic vote in 2000,plus the fact that not one of their supporters or their board ever wish US well (In fact some may have gone a step further and tried to actively undermine our relationship with Brimsdown ssc),then i for one will not be a hypocrite and pretend to wish them all the best.Thats not to say that i don't respect plenty of individuals at 1893.The likes of Alan Farmer/MK/Russ..etc are all great people.

I am totally with LS.

The fact that there is EFC (1706) is a hindrance to ETFC and (1796) is not the EFC that I followed for 40 years.

Where I depart from LS perhaps is his view that EFC died in 2001. I felt that it died when we played at St Albans. I never liked Clarence Park cant stand the area and sat in the clubhouse in the last season we played there and thought this is not my club.

ETFC gave me a fresh start in football amongst people that I have known for a very long time. And yes we have all done our stint on the supporters club at EFC.

Let's keep things in perspective - this whole spat was started off by a careless (Freudian?) use of the word 'we'. Hardly worth a full-on row, is it?

Now behave all of you, or I'll be round in the small hours and put a bat up your nightdress...

(Haven't used that one for years blush)

Threats of violence on the ETFC forum! I am shocked. Anyway, I don't wear nightdresses on Tuesdays

LS, respect your points but disagree, do you as a Town fan really wish the demise of EFC or any other local club so we can prosper through sponsorship? paying spectators? they will come through the turnstiles if we are successful & gain promotion and I dont believe that if we had 100 extra paying fans it would make that a fore gone conclusion, as for the vote in 2000 I believe those who stayed to keep EFC alive did so in good faith & for the right reasons, in as equally as much good faith that you & I chose to support & establish the Town.

I can also say that I have had plenty of positive comments from EFC supporters and been wished well by supporters I dont even know, equally they have their bitter fans that feel we walked away & deserted them & like several Town fans feel the need to make derogetory comments to make them feel they are achieving the higher ground (something I can honestly say Ive never witnessed you doing) which I for one feel is quite sad, but that is life im afraid & wont ever change.

So yes I do wish them well & here is to healthy "local" competition.

Dont care how loud they are they express my contempt for the supporters of EFC(1805) who dont believe in democracy and have taken a holier than thou attitude ever since they were formed. An attitude that I witnessed again on Saturday at Rothwell.

They claim the good parts of the history of EFC but disown the rip off that was Tony Lazerou, "nothing to do with us".

They disown the rip off that was the game against Hemel.

I was a supporter of EFC under Tony Lazerou and I accept the good parts of that time. The day in George V playing fields when all sorts of promises were made. (and probably meant) The FA cup wins. League championship etc That was a part of the history for which EFC can feel justly proud but if ETFC(1661) claims EFC's history the club has to apologise for the way that Lazerou sold us down the river.

THe club also has to wear a hair shirt for the disgraceful way they treated their fans when I was not part of their history except I was the one who made my feelings known for the rip off that EFC had become. I did not intend to see the game against Hemel from a ladder I attended out of a sense of well being for the club but it was destroyed when I found that they wanted £8 to get in to see Hemel. Again the present board of EFC (1581) say "nothing to do with us".

There has been no apology. They cant have it both ways. Tony Lazerou and Hemel was either part of their history or they are not the same club. If those two events were part of their history I want nothing to do with them!

If they want the history of EFC then pay of EFC's debts and apologise to the traders that the club let down.

EFC(3003) is a number and has no history except the shared history with ETFC and the 3 months since they were formed this year.

I dont care about the personalities that are involved it is the CLUB that matters and EFC(5089) has a dishonourable history and no amount of good people can eliminate that dishonour.

As far as I am aware EFC has already demised. The club with a similar but suffixed name is not a local club.

I have got over losing the club that I loved. It is EFC(1111) who havent.

They wrap themselves in a shroud called "history" as if that justifies their existence.

In the long run we are all dead including EFC, EFC(2222) and even ETFC.

Only Diamonds are forever.
