The FA Cup Sponsored by E.ON

First Round Qualifying

Tiptree United v Brentwood Town

Saturday 15 September 2007

The Football Association this afternoon have released the following statement regarding the above tie:

This serves to confirm that the above game has been postponed by The FA due to the playing of Jamie Arlick by Tiptree United in the Extra Preliminary and Preliminary Rounds whilst still registered as a scholar with Northampton Town FC and not having the necessary permission to play in The FA Cup, therefore in breach of FA Cup Rule 15(j)(i).

The breach of the FA Cup Rules will now be considered by the FA Cup Committee on Monday 17 September.

The interesting question I must ask is " did he also play against Romford the other evening in the Essex Senior Cup?" and would his playing be subject to the same ruling seeing as this trophy is the official one of our county FA who form a part of the national FA?

I heard on Saturday that his participation in the ESC is also subject to the same ruling and part of the review today. He scored their second and equalising goal against us last Tuesday.

If they do get thrown out our reinstation will be automatic I presume but it's more interesting in the FA Cup. The fair and logical thing would be for Sawbo and APSA to play on a neutral ground for the right to play Br ntwood.

If, however, they are ordered to replay then it again is simple with us but with whom do they replay in the national competition. Again logically they should play APSA and then Sawbo again if they beat the former again.

I will await today's decision with baited breath but with little confidence that right will prevail.

Tiptree Removed From FA Cup

Further to our earlier statements, following a decision taken at Soho Square this afternoon, our Club has been removed from the FA Cup competition for this season, with London APSA being re-instated in our place.

This decision was taken in light of the fact that the FA Cup Sub Committee found that we had played two players without obtaining permission from the Clubs that they are registered with.

The FA were sympathetic to the case put forward by our Club in that both the players in question had been released by Northampton Town and Ipswich Town in July and that these Clubs considered that they had told the players that they were free to go and play for another Club.

However what, as it has turned out, they failed to do was to complete the necessary paperwork and lodge this with the Football Association thereby officially terminating their Scholarships.

Because of this, when it was realised that they had been playing for Tiptree United in the FA competitions, this was in direct contradiction of the Rules.

Tiptree United would like to state that they feel that they received a fair hearing at Soho Square this afternoon and came away with the feeling that the Commission members had tried everyway possible to find a way for our Club to remain in the FA Cup.

We would like to thank Northampton Town and Ipswich Town for all their support and express our gratitude to Sally Webb the Secretary of Ipswich Town, who wrote a letter admitting the administration error within her Club.

Our Club also received support from many other Clubs both in the local area and further afield and would like, in particularly, to single out Stevenage Borough who wrote to the FA indicated that they had also attempted to sign one of the players in question and that, at the time, they too had been advised he was a free agent.

Unfortunately, this situation is likely to be repeated in respect of the FA Vase and the Club anticipates they will be advised whether the same penalty may be imposed in respect of that competition.

We will of course keep you informed. As I'm sure you can imagine, the mood around the Club is somewhat subdued and would ask everyone to rally round and support the team at this difficult time.

SO IT LOOKS AS THO THE BORO MAY BE BACK IN THE ESSEX SENIOR CUP TOO!

From the Tiptree website today

Unfortunately, as a consequence of a meeting held at Soho Square this morning, a decision has been taken to expel the Club from further participation in this seasons FA Vase competition.

This is due to the Club having played both Jamie Arlick and Ian Nimmo in the fixture against Northampton Sileby Rangers FC who we

beat 6 - 1.

The next round fixture, due to take place this coming Saturday will now be between Barking FC and Sileby Rangers.

Whilst the Commission members at the FA were sympathetic, they felt that, as their decision would be open to the scrutiny of the other Clubs, they were left them with no room to manoeuvre other than to remove us from the Competition.

This decision brings an end to the Clubs involvement with the FA's national Cup competitions for this season, however it would appear that our problems continue, as the Club has today, received a charge notice from the Essex County FA in relation to the same situation involving our game against Romford in the Essex Senior Cup.

It is also anticipated that the Ridgeons Football League Management Committee will be reviewing matters at their meeting in October.
