O/T Metric v Imperial

Just heard on the news that the EU have said that the UK will not be forced to carry out any further metrication. Made me wonder - what do fully metricised continental Europeans call the 6 yard box? The 5.486 metre box?

How long did it take you two to do that calculation. I'm sure you are both old school like myself and prefer imperial

Nah, metric is the nuts. Although I'd rather have a gallon than a litre!

I stuggle on the continental golf courses as they're all metric, keep under clubbing!

Like I said Wader you tell some one 10 centimetres and they get excited when in reality its just 4 inches

About 2 seconds on a conversion website.

I "get" metric length, but have never got to grips with metric volume or weight, don't know why.

I do find it frustrating during a construction. Some people are still in imperial and that includes fairly big national companies along with most 'older' jobbing builders. You get used to doing immediate conversions in your head, but 3.2808 isn't the easiest divisible. Give me metric anyday.
