Just got home from work, otherwise I would have replied earlier. I'm writing for a insurance magazine in the city called Professional Broking magazine.

 

I have offered to help the club with regard to publicising themselves before but was always told they would come and see me if they needed me.

 

Also, when i was helping out with the programme and interviewing the players before Jenny took over, I offered them to the local papers as a way of boosting interest in the club, but was politely told that they weren't interested.

If you use the name anon, you can not expect people to know who you are or what you have done, so Roger's question is a valid one. On the other hand I can fully understand why the anon who started this thread chose not to reveal his/her identity ! I do not condone the very thinly veiled personal abuse involved, or even neccesarily understand where it's coming from, though a lot of people on here have attacked the team whilst not at games personally ( As I'm not at many games I keep it shut unless I've seen it). Could be board member themselves, not leaked ? Why London for a wedding dress, why not Slough?!?! (not serious really). Let's all pull together for a change, new blood on the board is a good thing, give them a chance. If still crap in your opinion in a few years vote them off, democracy works sometimes!

So Charlie and Marcus stand accused of shouting abuse at games (well stick us all in the dock for that one) but at least they do not do anything hiding behind a cloak of anonymity.

 

To try and justify that anonymous status by suggesting you are not allowed a voice smacks of one thing and one thing alone. My suggestion would be to continue allowing anonymous posters but default to a username that is more appropriate - "Coward".

Where the hell's all this come from? I can think of no good reason for all the criticism of Marcus and Charlie. The comments are unnecessary as well as factually incorrect. Clearly there's someone out there who thinks it's not a good idea for them to be on the Trust board despite the effort they put in, but why? Is it an ex-Board member (STST or STSA) with a more general issue with younger blood representing the Trust? And why couldn't it have been raised in private? The below quote gets me wondering.

You might also want to ask who was handing out leaflets in the town? I assume the post was by somebody who was there as to have a dig at Charlie for not being there if they weren't themselves would be slightly hypocritical and somewhat ironic given the title of the original post.

I fail to see how this anon is supporting the club that he has been coming to for 40 years by coming on here and doing this...the last thing we need is more sh*t-stirring especially after the efforts by all parties on saturday.

 

If you want to have a pop at people who didnt go to hand out leaflets, try this one...I didn't go to hand leaflets out in the high street because I was one of about 5 or 6 people who travelled all the way to Canvey Island to support the team in the friendly!! I have no doubt that those who missed the session in the high street would have been there if they could.

 

I am 100% sure that Marcus and Charlie have the best interests of the club in mind in everything they do. Everyone is entitled to moan about what happens, its part of the life of a football fan, but this just takes the piss.

People, please try to get along nicely. You guys clearly have so much passion for you club - so many clubs at this level are sadly lacking the numbers you have in support.

 

Volunteer is without a doubt the key word word here and people will offer varying degrees of financial and physical support - but generally it is as much as the individual can spare. Don't diminish your numbers by sniping at each other.

 

I am an Andover supporter who during my GCSE & A level years dedicated many hours a week to my club, editing the matchday programme and helping out at the ground and people always find something to moan about or criticise the volunteers - but never lose the focus of why you became involved in the first place!!!

 

Sadly wasn't able to make the trip on saturday. I am pleased that you have got back on the victory trail (much as we could have done with the points)!! I look forward to seeing a good following at the Portway.

I've got my fingers crossed its optimistic back, he was fun. Lets hope when the summary of the trust meeting is out he/she will be satisfied with what was actually said at the meeting, and not rely on the blabberings of someone who was clearly there but could not remember what was said. And if you wish to criticise my teaching 'glad my kids dont go to my school' you may be interested in my recent ofsted ranking of 'outstanding' and read my exam results/value added on my last cohort. (53% a-c prediction in schools average for those kids) i achieved just over 70%)
I would say lets just draw a line under this one and get behind the team, but obviously i donbt mean it and am being two faced, the fact that i always try to be postive/start postive chants even when the chips are down obviously doesnt come into it; coupled with the fact that i am usually one of the first to defend the player (see wilko/jon mills thread for proof) anyhow enough justification for now, and hope everyone has a nice quiet football free weekend.

I put up the original 'controversial subject-a new manager' thread and know nothing about this Anonymous 'Hypocrites' thread.I don't even know who Charlie Thomas is but for what it's worth,she sounds like someone on Slough Town F.C side and while I don't agree with her tatical analysis and her reading of the game.I think the club needs as many stalwarts/helpers,like her, that it can get and this 'Anonymous' Prat should have the b**locks to front up and say who he is,if he wants to be so outspoken.

I don't believe I have come across such a bunch of thicko's in my entire life, the person who started this thread and I ( 40yrs service)are not the same person. I merely asked what Miss Charlie T. thought she could bring to the table as a journalist that others could not-I foolishly supposed that she worked for a well known paper or something similar, where she could state our case and highlight the cause.As it turns out she is no more gifted than anybody who went to a decent school and can write letters to the right places.

Then having someone ask me what I had done for Slough Town-laying the concrete terraces didn't seem to be enough for him and he demeaned that hard costly work-and you wonder why people come on here as unknowns-the answer is obvious, who would want to be known to or by such fools.

Well you've totally confused me. I've no idea what point you are trying to make.

My point was that we have (supposedly) two different people posting under the same name ('Anonymous') and readers of the forum will assume it's one and the same person because of this. The two posts are NOT materially different in either content or writing style - they both refer to Charlie, albeit one is more of an attack and one more inquisitive.

 

In conclusion - at least make the effort to use some sort of user name to differentiate your post. I can't believe I just had to spell that out.

Anonymous, what exactly is the point of this tirade of abuse? You have made it quite clear that you have some sort of "issue" with Charlie, do you really have to bother us with all the details?

 

If you do have a genuine "issue" with her (and from what you've said so far you haven't convinced me in the slightest), coming on here ranting and raving is hardly the way to make things right is it?
