Costing EUFC Money - Part 2

Lowering the price to a tenner for adults, fiver for a child/concessions would be a good start

But advertising is the only thing that will ever turn it round.

You have to get it into peoples' minds, cos its not exactly in a location that most Gravesendians drive past on a daily basis. People forget, I reckon.

We should get one of those news billbaords and put posters on those and put them in major supermarkers such as Asda .

We need bigger paper advertisments, and put posters around schools, pubs and clubs

That would be a start

I think it would be worthwhile to spend a lot on advertising at least to see what difference it makes

I think it could well be because people reckon they can get better value for money(entertainment wise), without leaving their armchairs nowadays. Premiership Football on the box live(and most people have a premier team as their other choice),can entice people to stay at home!

There has never been a large number of 'hardcore' supporters, that I can remember! Even when Portway was slamming them in the net with regularity, there weren't that many people watching on a regular basis!

I agree Jimmy. Its a pdychological thing. People tend to measure expenditure in Notes. Ive done it , when Ive been out for a beer , looked at wallet and think "damn Ive done 60 quid" but in reality I had 20 quid of chnage in my pocket.

People arent seeing much change out of a 20 to go to the fleet. I have sadi it before , £10 should be the price. I agree we are trying to balance the books and be competative , but in all reality , tickets to Charlton , Millwall , Orient and other local leagu clubs can be had for a similar price (subject to terms and conditions and availabilty and other legal stuff).

The club can go two ways

1) lower prices to £10

2) Introduce a package for £20. Entry , Programme , Beer or soft drink and a burger.

The latter will drive people into the bar so possible extra money there and also towards the burger bar.

Im no expert in football finances but an attraction needs to be done.

Certainly the people of Gravesham aren't interested in this level of football. Oxford averaged 6,331 last season and their highest gate was over 11,000.
Unfortunately we don't have and never have had many fans and a fair proportion of those that we do have are either casual or fickle whichever title you prefer, one bad performance and they won't go to the next game.
The club have tried quite a few initiatives to attract new fans but none have ever looked like denting the apathy of the people of the area.
Maybe we should all just accept that we are and always have been a small club who will never make it to the football league. We have probably been playing one league higher than we deserve for five seasons and sooner or later we will go back to our rightful level, about five hundred of us will be upset when that happens but so what, five hundred isn't much of an upset.

IMO you are right Slarti. However, yes the club has tried several iniatives but they have never maintained them for long periods of time. When the club went to the streets at the start of the season that was a great piece of marketing but what else has happened since??? Where's the advertising? Dartford hijack our local to drum up support. What do we do?

The good news is when Ebbsfleet Valley or whatever it is going to be called gets built and we get 30,000+ new residents who don't support any other team we should be OK.

That is rather pessimistic. If we have a team good enough to finish top half of the table then why shouldn't we be in the conference? The fact that Ebbsfleet is a small club doesn't mean we don't deserve to go far. We're doing just fine. Promotion into the league would be difficult for us anytime soon and no doubt our financial problems would show up even more so than they do now (see Accrington)
But we 100% deserve to be in the Conference and I think our prosperity can only grow, and while we are in the Conference, nows the time to get the ball rolling before the ball rolls back the other way...
If we all adopt the above attitude we will just slump back to where we came from.
And I still think a huge investment in advertising is the best way to start, and also less money to be spent on internationals and a bit more time spent on the Ebbsfleet juniors who don't often get a look in to the first team. (How long did Luke Coleman have to wait eh! And he scored a better goal on Saturday than Nade could ever look like scoring)
Also in reference to the above post, as much as the Ebbsfleet day was a fabulous idea and no doubt informed people about the club, we do also need more sustainable forms of advertising so that people see something about the club every day

I wouldn't bet any money on getting more than a few hundred! What makes people think the new population of Ebbsfleet development, aren't already (League)Football supporters of another team, or more likely, have no interest in Football at all, like most of the Gravesham catchment area!
Time will tell, but don't stake your mortgage on a great increase in attendances!
