Swearing in football

I see that the Hellenic League is clamping down on bad language on the pitch. Something the FA should lead in the Premiership but do not.

If the Rymans were to do so then we might not get the situation we saw constantly on Saturday at Staines.

If you are the ref and a foul is committed you blow the whistle and run 10 yards to a open area to call the player over to deal with him. The player concerned then still standing those 10 yards or so away from you lets rip with a torrent of abuse at you including telling you what to do, what to use and how often you can do it to yourself.

Do you:

A) Show a straight red from where you are standing

B) Order the player over to you and show a red card

C) Order the player over tell him to calm down repeating what one of your linesmen told the same bloke 5 minutes before hand and issue a yellow.

D) Order him over with his captain and tell them to calm down giving him his 4th final warning

E) Ignore his rant at you, your mother and your absent father plus the rant of his manager at the same time conducted in the same manner

F) Run away looking like a fightened sheep in Wales.

Well Dave Bushell of Tottenham thinks the answer is F.

He lost control of the game after 6 minutes and never regained it.

An additional funny note is that Staines were complaining in the programme about the disgraceful action of a Wealdstone fan at their last home game for use of foul language. Maybe they should look closer to home.
