We just dont win enough in the air. Lance clears the bal and it comes straight back at us , panic sets in , we hoof it forward again.

 

We need a colossus in central midfield who can hold and distribute the ball.

 

In my opinion , several players need to look at themselves and ask if they want to play at this level. I could go into details , but I am not going to tell you all the obvious. Its the same mistakes week in and week out. I cannot see us getting anything in the next three games.

Surely the collossus in central midfield would be as much a spectator as the current shortarses are, if you don't want the ball to come back don't give it to them, that starts with the goalkeeper rolling the ball to one of our players rather than kicking it to the opposition.

We could really do with a Jay Saunders or a Bobby Bowry in midfield at the moment. Both were cool on the ball and set off many a powerful attack with their accurate and calm passing.

I really dont want to name names becuase I know (OK well assume) that lots of players read this forum (judging by the amount of players registered on Facebook).

 

Carrying on with the trend that we need to get behind the team, and not slate them or get on their backs, but I think the players who I am talking about know who they are.

Back in the days when The Wednesday played in the Arsenal style shirts (late 60's?) wasn't he the Central midfielder with a rather dapper moustache?

Yep ! Wing Half ( as they were called then) or midfielder.

 

I think the moustache was sported later in his career ( although I cannot remember it....but didn't everyone have one in the early 70's ?)

 

268 games for Wednesday, plus 12 sub appearances, scoring 26 goals !! (not sure how he did for West Ham between Dec 69 & 1972 before Wednesday signed him again !

Cheers AFF....I may have misled you a bit though....when I said that I wasn't sure what he did at West Ham....I really meant that I didn't really care. Although remember being pleased when he came back to Wednesday, especially as they paid a lot less than they sold him for. Quite strange that your attached article has a picture of him playing for West Ham against Sheff Utd !! Must have been only a matter of time before some piggy player scythed him down !!

I seem to remember when he was at West Ham, being known as Peter Useless, although I am sure he played a few good games!
