Yes maybe Skinns was lucky to have remained on the pitch. However, he should have been congratulated on the new found tolerance he is displaying after severe provaocation from a couple of thier players today.

I think that was Deano's 5th today and will be missing against Hendon. It will be up to him then to fight (not literally) for his place back. That could be his biggest punishment.

Nice report MM which helps us who did'nt make the game understand how the team played.

Thanks for the support Cookie although I think its just a thing I have with Joseba. I like football in general and will watch and do watch football atleast 6 games per week from around the world and like to watch all local football in Kent to keep my self upto date with players and up and coming players. He has only the Gate to follow and Keith so he probably can't understand poor fellow

I wasnt really supporting anyone Tony,it was about being "fair".

You used to have a similar problem with me once if I recall correctly,& for all I know might still have. But I wont let things like that put me off posting & I can get over it,but it does put others off! It IS something we should ALL be concerned about..

It shouldn't be happening at all between anyone! Theres absolutely no need i.m.o!

We have people who wont post these days purely because of behaviour like this.

Isn't it about time we reverted back to the "Friendly family" forum again, where everyone can post a comment, right or wrong, serious or stupid, agreed upon or not agreed upon, without getting verbally & personally abused.(I may have been guilty at times also.)

Come on we are all better than this.

Signing off

Father Teresa! laugh

Come on now lets all smile SMILE smile again (together),& try & get on with each other. It surely is much nicer that way isn't it?

Now back to the football.Very good report Michael & thanks again for the updates & your personal outlook on things today.

I personally believe we have a decent squad & when we get our main men back we will win more games than we lose & lets face it this league isn't anyones just yet & it ain't gonna be either for a long while.

Well, seeing as you asked,

The sun shone, the pitch was green, and everyone had a smile on their face. The players played some good stuff, seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves. No-one was slagged off for making an error, and if a pass went astray, were encouraged to try again. There was a lot of gentle ribbing of the opposition, but no-one abused the ref or the linos even if there was a disagreement with the decision.

There were quite a few of the players' parents on the sidelines, but no-one slagged off the manager if their little Johnny did not make the pitch this week.

Supporters from both sides shared lively discussions in the various merits of their favourite and not so favourite players without acrimony or insult, and agreed to differ in some instances.

No-one insulted someone else because they had not supported the club for 450 years.

After the game everyone piled into the pub and players, officials and fans from both sides together shared a few pints and some chat and laughter.

Oh yes, and Canterbury won 4-1, in front of 147.

It was certainly different.

Thanks, that was the actual answer I was looking for. Going well then...good!
I take a distant interest in their results too & would like to see them rise up again.
Gates decent too,in fact getting very close to a supposedly superior outfits attendances.

I checked the Canterbury site myself last night and noticed their first game attracted 181. They were getting far less than that when they were a lot higher up the pyramid. The last match I saw Margate play at Canterbury, I think the attendance was less than 200, with the majority of the crowd being Margate supporters. Its good to see them on the way back, although a long way to go, with back to back promotions it would be 6 seasons to get to Ryman Premier!!!

It won't be long until they are like every other team in the country June, atm they are all in the honeymoon period of having a football team back, but soon their supporters will be more expectant and with that comes pressure.

Well of course you are right, Alex, it is just such a pleasant change to see a good game and to enjoy it all. And to have a football team where there was none is something pretty amazing, and that is to the good for any football fan, regardless of club alliegance.

The difference is that at the moment it is amateur, everyone is doing it for the love of the game. But I felt a bit of nostalgia for the Ashford days, the atmosphere reminded me of that, we were all in it together then and there was none of this bitching and general malcontent.

I am a bit old fashioned in that I believe it it not all about winning, a large part of it is how you play the game.

Agree with you completely about the Ashford days Margate Fan - there was a terrific atmosphere amongst the 200 odd that regularly attended. As you wrote, we were all in it together.

It would be nice to think that it was not all about winning but the trouble is, like in any job, try telling the bosses that when it all goes wrong.
