Billericay Town v Walthamstow Avenue in the FA Cup

I recently picked up this programme (it appealed 'cos I was born in Walthamstow, but brought up in Billericay):

 

 

Anyone know what the score was, and how we did in the FA Cup that season?

 

I don't think I would have been there (I started going in 78 I think).

Bit of an infamous game Hendon, not that I was there (way too young), but I believe Hendon's winner was a blatent handball which led to an almighty ruck in the ground!

 

As a matter of fact, we've missed out quite a few times in the FA Cup 4th Qualifiers. Could've been away to Watford, home to Cardiff, away to Oldham (do you know the way to Oldham!) and Home to Bristol Rovers. And when we do make it, who do we get? Sodding Wisbech and Stevenage!

That must have been the Wisbech game that happened just after Sandwich-gate.

 

I remember one wag at the London Road end throwing some bread on the pitch at a Wisbech corner and shouting "Go on Wisbech, have a sandwich."

I was at the Hendon game and yep, it was blatent hand ball...I believe the player admitted to it after the game...

 

Thinking about it, some go one about crowd behaviour and swearing today and my recolection of the game (now) was that there was quite a bit of that going on then...the game was tense, a cracker in very many ways...and the crowd did make their displeasure known at the ref several times (from both sets od supporters)...

 

I was at the Walthamstow game as well, as I'm sure several of us that still support the club were...JR?

I remember our coach had one of its windows put through that day by some Tottenham fans !!

My abiding memory of the Hendon game was the non-stop rain ~ and it was a blatant hand-ball !

 

I think BTFC won an FA award for 'Result of the Round' after beating the then-mighty Walthamstow Avenue.

The most important thing about that Walthamstow game was that 15 minutes after kick off, a few miles down the road, SimonBTFC entered the world! Hope you're all feeling suitably old now
