I read with some myrth that Andy (bless is cotton socks) Deaner is out injured.............Did he land awkwardly in his bum while trying to head a ball? A vision of how he obtained his injury causes me untold myrth

I do understand the need to mock Andrew Deaner but in fairness he was probably our best player against Maidenhead and its a shame for him to pick up an injury, and for the rebels as it meant that we could only name four subs away to Hertford on Saturday. The man doesn't have much talent but he covers more ground on the pitch than most of the first team (Sammy an obvious exception) and would have made the bench a whole lot more respectable against Hertford (Braich, Adrian Brown, Eddie Denton and DJ Zepherin).

As a relative recent watcher of Slough I've often wondered what Andy Deaner's done to upset people (other than being son of). Whenever I've seen him he's done quite well and whilst he'll never get the twenty goals a season that Sammy or Tony will he is better in the air than any of the current alternatives (including Hale and Davies), holds the ball up well and makes like difficult for defenders.

I agree that he was our man of the match against Maidenhead, although admittedly candidates weren't exactly queuing up on that occasion, and if anyone scores a better goal this season than his at home to Kingstonian I'd be surprised. I will though bow to the knowledge of anyone who has watched him repeatedly miss four yard tap-ins for the last five years!

Better goals than his against Kingstonian? Sammy's on the opening day against Hornchurch, Sammy's against Harlow, Hakki against Northwood and Williams against Arlesey at home. There's four for starters. Whilst Andy's was a good goal, there was a large element of hit and hope in it, and I feel that the four listed were in another class.

As for Andy's fitness, I think it was a mixture of flu and injury. He played last Wednesday at Harrow for Slough Reserves and picked up a knock, but he was feeling under the weather last Saturday with flu, so I gather it was a combination of both.

Did you purposely pick three games I wasn't at or was that just pure chance, Gary?!! I'd ask my son as he was at all those games but he'd just pick any scored by Sammy Winston!

Veli's was good against Northwood but the goal against Kingstonian was one of those where if it had been scored by Sammy it would be fantastic but because it was Deaner then it's classed as lucky. Sure it was one that he'd only get once in a hundred attempts but the fact that he meant it must count for something? Here endith the broadcast on behalf of the Andy Deaner Party!

Talking of other contenders, Tony Boot's diving header for the third against Canvey must be up there too I'd have thought.

Ian---I'll back you up. Deaner's goal against Kingstonian is my goal of the season. The following weekend, on TV there was a "European goal of the week" slot---none of them were a patch on Deaners goal.

Give Andy his due ! maybe not the best player in the world...but 100% man....no if's but's or what's....

Good to have on subs bench , in times of trouble can get in and mix the play up ! which at times is needed! so give him your support and he will repay us but some outstanding goals ! the Kingstonian one was spectacular ! never to be forgotten...

Up the rebels..........
