Personal Statement ............. from Volunteers

WITHOUT PREJUDICE

A PERSONAL STATEMENT BY THOSE WHO ACTUALLY RAN THE BAR ON A VOLUNTARY BASIS OVER THE PAST THREE YEARS AT THE MANY FUNCTIONS HELD AND IN TAM's CASE ESPECIALLY, ON MATCH DAYS TOO

We feel that we should make a personal statement in response to the one recently put out by the CHAIRMAN & DIRECTORS of Margate Football Club.

While the first part of their statement is in essence correct in respect of MISA not wishing to run the bar on a fulltime basis once the five-a-side pitches are operational, the fact is the pitches have not even been started yet so what the hurry was to kick MISA out we will leave for MFC to explain.

MISA did ask MFC if they wished us to continue running the catering outlets on match days. The answer was in the positive. It appears however, Mr Piper told Tam after the first home game of the season that he was very disappointed to see the fourteen man committee could not operate the outlets between them, obviously not being concerned that we would miss watching the match. As for the reason given why MFC were taking the running of the catering outlets in-house, because MISA had promised a money return to the club after each game, this was never done. We donated money on a Tuesday after we had accounted for all monies taken and paid all our bills for each weekend. I repeat we never gave money directly AFTER EACH GAME. We presented monthly accounts to the MFC Board. Before this season the money given weekly was on top of paying for all clubhouse expenses and providing the food etc for all the hospitality and sponsors meals, this let it be said WAS included in donations we gave to MFC, nevertheless it was MISA who dealt with the provision of all the food.

Since the start of the season (that is two home friendlies and two league matches) we donated approx £700.

In our opinion we can only presume this whole episode stems from the fact that Tam questioned the use of the current bar and premises licence WHICH IS STILL IN HIS NAME or possibly they felt we were not doing a good job in running the three outlets (as there were last season) in respect of quality of food or maybe they felt we were not donating enough to the club. If that is the case, at least we could have said that was fair enough and by them taking the running of the outlets back in-house, to use their own words, there would be a better and more successful outcome. We would be only too pleased for MFC for any improvement.

As for their final comment about the MISA motto of "Working with the club for the club", this has only ever been a one way situation on MISAs part. The motto by the way no longer exists.

We feel that we have done more than our fair share over the past three years, putting in many hundreds of hours (most very unsocial ones at that). We were always aware things were going to change once the new development was underway but there are ways and ways of treating people and we feel that we must put our case to you the supporters.
