I would have thought that it might be advantageous for MISA to hold events away from the club, not just now but possibly even in the past.

If you go to an independent venue, particularly one such as the RBL who have supported the club with sponsorship anyway, it may be possible to attract their existing audience and add an attraction for the venue. Does The Hartsdown have a clientele apart from the Football supporters? Part of the Management's remit there will surely be to build up a customer base and there could well be times that the venue isn't available for MISA.

The move around to other venues could also bring the club out to those other people in the area who do not support MFC and possibly generate further interest.

Just my view.

I assume that you mean a loss on bar sales to the club.

If the club has appointed a Commercial Manager, or whatever but someone to run The Hartsdown, then it will be the responsibility of that person to encourage people to use the venue and build up bar sales - they won't want to rely entirely on the football supporters surely. Obviously it would be nice if they made it particularly attractive to MISA to hold events there wouldn't it?

we have a quiz evening on friday 21st september at SOUTHWOOD,i think its important to hold all functions where possible at your ground,im sure the money generated by your supporters (ie bar taking)would be needed and greatly appeciated by your football club

I am a bit worried that the supporters club is alienating itself from the football club. I can't believe that a quiz night run by the supporters is not being held at the Clubhouse. The club have redecorated "The Hartsdown" to a reasonable standard (whether people like it or not)and as soon as they do this the supporters club don't use the place. Is there some underlying problem here that we are not privy to. Sureley just the revenue from drinks on the night would improve income greatly. Can much money be raised from a quiz night with no bar takings and a £3.00 entry fee including food. I haven't been to a quiz night before because of the travelling so can't comment too much. I haven't been able to join MISA yet as I have only been to one match so far this season, but could someone let us know what is happening? I know that over the years Margate FC does not have a good record with Supporters Clubs and reading between the lines it looks like this is going to continue unless something is done.

I am certainly not trying to have a go at MISA. I know what work they have done for the club since our return 3 years ago,( and probably don't know half of it). I was one of those volunteers who completely revamped the ground for our return. I certainly know that Tam not only worked goodness knows how many hours but allowed everybody to use his own tools o get the work done which either wnt missing or were broken. I can also understand that he may be slightly pissed off by the way they (MISA)have been treated recently. But by moving away from the club cannot be good for the future.

As I see it, if a fair amount of money has been invested into "The Hartsdown" and someone put in charge to run the place, then it is more than likely that a return over the whole week will need to be maximised, not just Saturdays or one off events. Those in charge will probably have to work to targets to ensure that a maximum usage and profit will be achieved. I assume that those responsible for running the venue will be paid and their jobs will be at stake if the venue fails.

I absolutely agree that the MISA officials and members have done a wonderful job in assisting the club and hope that a consideration for this will be reflected by the club in its dealings with MISA for the benefit of all concerned. However, if the club is going to run The Hartsdown and catering outlets then the actual costs involved will be recognised, although I am sure that the club must have some idea of these costs anyway.

If MISA were to run events at other venues, such as RBL, then I do believe that it would have the effect of "taking the club to the people" and raising awareness of what is going on in terms of football at Hartsdown. Perhaps when running such events MISA could have some sort of display about the club, or have a player either from today or yesterday, or a supporter even, turn up and let those present know what the club has meant to him or her.

I would be more than happy to see MISA continue to use The Hartsdown, it is a natural home, but has the venue got a good regular clientele other than on match days? I believe that if The Hartsdown is to succeed then such a clientele will be necessary.

I have to confess that although I was born and brought up in Margate I no longer live in the town. I am pretty regular at Hartsdown and as many away games as I can get to and like everyone else want both the club and MISA to succeed in harmony. That is the most important thing - both sides need to work together.

From my point of view I want us to advertise the name of Margate FC as far and wide as possible.

The links being formed between the British Legion and Margate FC is a two way thing to encourage local organisations WITHIN the the town.

The British Legion offered a chance for the supporters to hold a quiz a no charge in their own room.

The legion pushing the club has resulted in several legion members now going to see the team so the idea does work.
