car parks...film stars and smoking bans...

all very confusing upon arrival as elstree studios were encamped in the car park making a film and I was met with a mob of screaming young groupies who thought I was a film star (understandable I suppose..I did have the armani sharkskin suit on)

 

nett restored order by telling them all I was a sixty year old unemployed gardner so I dropped the bottom lip and trooped off with me mate bucherie to find a bit of food and a smoking area in a non smoking ground...with both missions accomplished we settled into the lovely old decrepit stadium and play commenced in darkeness as the floodlights warmed up....so dark in fact that we all missed the first goal after 2 minutes due to a defensive balls up the like of which has not been seen since ipswich arrived at anfield some years ago.....lots of urchin pressure tho' and some good play levelled matters as parks got on the end of a lee cross....5 minutes later and janney is open on goal...cannot miss...hits the bar and I just knew what was gonna happen....down the other end and a pen to them...(ref gave a free kick outside the box.. lino says inside the box)...2-1...up the other end and krissy misses a sitter and down the other end and its 3-1 from a joke bit of defending on a corner.....so on and so forth ad infinitum....

 

all us in the second and we wouldn't have scored in the month of september.....a very lively hendon dug deep and also continued to threaten on the break and well done to them as they go top of the league for the first time in ten years but it is about us and if we miss chances at this level we will pay...we also must learn to defend in midfield and not concede possession in the areas either side of the halfway line which is where the damage was done tonight imo...

 

so....a bad night in hendon but results tonight and on saturday tell us that no one is going to have it all their own way this term....not the best urchin performance I have seen but in truth it just wasn't our night at all.....the last 15 minutes we were camped in their half and I knew we would not break through...

 

no complaints at all from me...thanx for the hospitality hendon and well done to their team...we must now rouse ourselves for a big game at carseyshalton on saturday and I am sure colin and his gang will do just that...disappointing night after saturdays heroics but we'll bounce back..there's enough know how on the staff and guts and ability in the team...

 

must also add my commiserations to little plucky wimbledon.....

Have to admit I wasn't expecting a win this evening before the game.
