"On the up side, we do have one of the best (if not THE best) playing surfaces and grandstands in the Rymans, so will have to be content with that for the foreseeable future."

Quite possibly true - but I'm sure you'd be even more content if they were in the same postcode as each other!!

No points for reaching a threshold in attendance figures but like many footy fans i find attendances very interesting for some strange reason.

Yes, interesting indeed, and USUALLY indicative of the standard of fare being dished up on the field of play (prepare to see the AFC Dons average plummet).
That's Old Trafford excepted of course - they'd get 70,000+ just to see the players shirts hanging out to dry.

Nice one Gareth - but as I say, it's "all" we've got at the moment, so have to make do with it.

For goodness sake, Melbourne Park is "all" we've got at the moment, so we Clarets have to learn to live with the fact that ANY attempt to make noise will evaporate into thin air.

All due respect but your talking nonsense. The atmosphere had nothing to do with the stadium, and everything to do with the fact that noone was singing. My friends tried to start a couple of chants and died on their arses. Ive heard the whole roof debate before, but the fact is, if noone sings, your gonna make fck all noise. I just couldnt understand how noone was getting involved at 2-0 up against the league leaders with 1000+ people there.

How many times have you visited Melbourne Park? Perhaps you should leave opinions on what it was like to people who were actually there

I seem to remember a great atmosphere when we beat Chelmo at Chelmo and that was prior, during and after the game. so it can be done, Has been done. It just takes a good club to generate it. Hence the Shoe Army on tour.

Errr.....give me a second or two......ah yes, TWICE.

But I beg to differ about my talking nonsense. Fact is, with no covering, any noise that IS made (and it DOES get made now and again), DOES disappear into thin air. I would think that is very discouraging for those ATTEMPTING to whip up a bit of atmosphere.

Noise and atmosphere can be generated in the MP stadium, but as jim has quite rightly pointed out, it is dependent on audience participation.

Agreed TC - our fans last night were obviously being bored to tears by the display from the league leaders. Obviously of the opinion that our team didn't require any noisy support in order to bag the 3 points.
(removes tongue from cheek).

Very good Bc. TC is right i was talking about last night. Melbourne isnt a great place to create noise, but ive seen sets of fans do a damn sight better than that (both home and away supporters).

Noise isnt just dependent on the ground, it takes effort, i remember many an away trip standing in the pissing rain with no cover, and still making a bit of a sound.

Discouraging it may be, but if as you say Melbourne is all youve got, you may as well learn to live with it and put in the effort. I didnt hear a peep out of the roro fans last night, just a few lads underneath the stand giving it their best shot.

Anyhow, it doesnt really make any odds, all that matters is the 3 points you picked up. And the 3 that we will undoubtedly pick up this very evening too, of course. wink
