AFC W - Under pressure

Well, you can't blame them for that!

He does write a witty piece, doesn't he?

One thing that does amuse me though. No matter what they say at AFC, the Wimbledon club they used to support, now plays in MK. Unfortunately (and I didn;t agree with the football authorities letting the move go ahead) the history of the Southern League and FA cup winning side is in MK now. Get over it for goodness sake. Non-league supporters won't think any less of the club now playing in Kingston!

Paying mega bucks for albeit good players that think that they are too good for the league they are in, and that seduces the support into believing the same?

A winning team is more than that, and no-one has a god-given certainty to win any league.

I rather like our squad this season, and like Alex, am rather proud of them, and it is nice not to have a BBB element amongst the support, because it gets unbearably horrible when you have those, and then lose a game.

I also agree with Wellsie, well time to get over ancient history and move on. Neither of the teams are the Wimbledon of old, times have changed, that team is gone forever. And it is unfair on both teams to keep harping back, let them make their own history, win or lose a game or two.

Very interesting reading and something I commented on a couple of seasons ago when AFC joined us in the league. Terry Brown had the exact same thing at Aldershot. A big team with big crowds week in and week out. Because of that the team are under immense pressure to perform. Smaller clubs seem to make it their ambition that if they are going to beat one team in season it will be the big one. TB always said that when you are the big team every week is a cup final and unfortunately your players must play cup final football EVERY week, something that is impossible to do. Every team they play will raise their performance way above their usual level. It took the Shots 5 seasons to get out of the Ryman premier after 3 back to back promotions. It is renowned to be the hardest league to get out of.
