Can I just say a big thank you to the choir for singing loudly at the begining of last nights match.

It guided me in after getting lost in the houses and streets walking up from Ore station (Most of the housing was not there last time I went to see Margate by train down there in 1977)

Shame that within 30 seconds of walking into the ground and collecting my beer they scored.

Now we know who to blame.

It was my first away game this season and i must say it was one i did not enjoy. Besides £1-40 for a portion of chips, having a ex speedway track between the spectators and the action, plus that dammed bell, we lost.

Though we played the better football and on another day could have walked it, we didn't.

I was very impressed again with Harte, Young, Smith and Skin's at the back. Jay was my man of the match. Where we lacked was the centre forward position. The main striker is a position that needs thought as does the Keeper. I would have done a cloughie last night and had young Matt warming up were he could be seen and once we had gone down 2-1 i would have replaced Scott immediately. From were i was standing i could follow that 30 yarder all the way in past our static keeper. No one was blocking his or my vision.

Hastings are a Young side, with a fair amount of skill, they tend to chase the long ball. I think they are good enough to stay up.

After this we had a crawl back through Rye and the Marsh on the Bus before hitting a decent road again from Breznet.

I am glad I overtook you, I wanted to get home!

£2.40 for a pint, too, makes our bar look positively competitive!

(Keith, take note, DON'T YOU DARE)

The old git with the bell needed a tinkle suppository, I have never heard anything so annoying, and if I had been closer I would have been glad to administer it.

We equalised just before half time, and when we came out at the start of the second half we were totally on top. I thought at that point we could win it. But the goal was a wondrous strike, after which their tails were up, and ours down. Oh for Rob when you need him! On the plus side we did in patches play some really decent stuff. Young was marvellous, best I have seen him play.

I am very glad we went there in September, it was right parky last night, going there in February would be hell. A proper frost pocket. But the pitch was OK last night.

Looked at the Hastings site and they said what a good match it was.

However one fan thought the ref was poor and we should have been left with 9 players on the pitch at the end!!!!!

Maybe he was including Scott in that after he blantently fell on the ground after the forearm smash from their forward in the first half (funny I thought that was a straight red offence so yes on that score the ref was very poor)

Apart from the corner that wasn't (a critical decision I know) but the ref seemed OK-ish in the first half and then got progressively worse as the game went on - for both sides.

Having seen both goals I have to say the marking for their first goal seemed rather lax.The second goal, though a brilliant strike from distance could,I repeat could,& possibly should have been better dealt with i.m.o.(Did it swerve in the air?,in which case I can understand the goal being scored)
