on an early autumn afternoon....

Uncle Urchin

Recommended Posts

and in bright sunshine... the urchins truly arrived back in the mix of senior NL footie with a superb battling performance in what turned out to be a very tight and tense affair at the balmy bridge as I thought it would be...

I was somewhat disappointed in chelmo as they flattered to deceive with fancy cross field passing across our midfield 5 but they were going nowhere...2 missed half chances from them in the first ten minutes and a couple of wayward headers in the second were just about all they had to offer really whereas the urchins were strong and created better chances themselves...danny gay saving an amos certainty off the line in the second half.....a kris lee powerful header on 70ish minutes from a janney cross settled matters and even a sympathetic referee playing 14 minutes injury time couldn't get chelmo a goal....bit disappointed with the attendence of 800ish but only about 200 chelmo fans travelled by my reckoning....

great 3 points and towering performances from godders at the back and a lonesome and heroic krissy lee up front....

well done everyone.....now lets go get hendon... applause yay

oh yes.....nearly forgot...anyone know the afcw score....bet they slaughtered arrowburra.... grin

A single goal did the trick.

Chelmo had loads of chances, but when they had Bertie upfront, I knew we had not much to worry about.

Two decent saves from Dale and a clean sheet, which will help his confidence.

Godders was awsome

Goddard was definitely my Man of the Match but I thought the turning point was when Amos was brought on. He chased their defence down and they became more anxious at the back with 2 strikers going at them, and created more space for Janners.

Couple of great stops by Dale. If only he could take a few more crosses.

Fantastic victory and great entertainment.

This was a game that could have finished with a very different result if Chelmo's finishing had been any good.

On our part, there were strong performances from Richard Goddard, Garry Cross, Amos Foyewa and Mark Janney.

Special mention goes to Kris Lee who ploughed a lone furrow in the first half with little reward for his efforts so I was delighted when he got on the end of a great move crafted by Amos and Mark Janney.

Did we deserve the 3 points? Just about and it goes to show what a tough and competitive league we are in.
