When the team was announced and Wardy wasn’t mentioned I thought here we go. When Cowan was taken off and Craig Davidson came on, I thought we would be quite suspect at the back as Micky Bennett was there also and bound to give something away. However, it became apparent that Ford weren’t that good and it would just be a case of keeping things tight at the back. Ash made a very good one on one save in the first half. How did he manage to deny their player?

Boylan was excellent today. As well as scoring the three, he seemed two yards faster then the Ford defence and won just about every ball sent over their defence.

 

With Cowan sadly out now, from those available, it has to be Wardy, Chenery and Bennett, although Bennett is better in defensive midfield. We may have to take the option of bringing in a defender if there is a decent one available.

wel rated by most at southend and well liked by all.. they seemed concerned about a back? injury though..used to be captain so another strong character to see us through these stressful times...good stuff

Well liked maybe, well rated.......no! Every Southend fan I speak to tells me how bad he is, and they assure me that this is the feeling around most of Roots Hall. Still, even though he wasn't doing a job in the 3rd division doesn't mean he couldn't be a good signing for us. Time will only tell.
