[Urchins]

Northwood came into this game after having lost top scorer Scott Fitzgerald to Watford earlier in the week and we introduced two new signings, Chris Moore and Vinnie John, to try and strengthen the side. The performance was better than the previous Saturday - but then it couldn't really have been much worse.

 

For once we held out for the first 5 minutes without conceding a goal which was a welcome change, and we nearly took the lead in the 25th minute when Danny Benstock's goalbound effort after a good move was cleared off the line by Rene Street. Five minutes later, though, Northwood's Wayne Carter drilled a free kick through a crowd of players to give the home side the lead. Ten minutes later Northwood extended their lead from another free kick, this time Chris Moore (not our one !) sending in an unstoppable shot from just outside the corner of the area.

 

We probably shaded the second half possession wise but Northwood always looked dangerous from their many forward breaks. Luck was against us again ten minutes into the second half when a firmly struck Nick Lowery effort from 15 yards beat the keeper but hit the bar and bounced down on the line - Kevin Jopson followed up with a header under pressure from a defender but couldn't get any power on it and it looped over. Against a well marshalled defence and a keeper in Rob Bullivant who commanded his area, chances were always going to be difficult to come by, and the breakthrough which may have spurred us on never came.

good question dom...dunt fink we can win the silverware now...in fact sure we cant....promotion....maybe....all sorts of fings gonna happen before we've all finished...we'll see...we'll see..

summarise it....

 

urchins still second and no game for 10 days...if everyone f*** up...we'll stay second...but we could find ourselves in 5th or 6th.....poor tactics today....the woods were there to be had and we didn't quite have the whereofitall....thats a fact...
