SLeB 1 Harry Boro 2

Recommended Posts

All the goals in the first half. Haringey went one-up through some guy they kept calling Sodje (surely not another in the famous clan?) Benfica levelled through a really sloppy goal. However, it was soon 2-1 to Haringey, same scorer.

Haringey should really have made the game safe in the second half, but instead they had to rely on a save in the last minute from their keeper from a free-kick just outside the box.

How was it a sloppy goal?

I was told that Haringey Borough were ball watching from the freekick and the SLB striker received the ball in front of goal, and tucked it away.

Second half - All the attacking was done by SLB including a lobbed header that just missed its target but one of SLB's subs!

SLB sound as if they're still not stamping their authority on the game, like they did last season and by the sounds of it, these teams are riding their luck a little bit.

I know I keep on banging on about the same thing over and over but players not present today for SLB:

Edgar (Captain), Afonso (Vice-Captain) Helder, Cafu, Guilherme, Tomas, Kevin, ...

My only fear is that the leading teams getting too much of a head start and SLB won't be able to recoup the point difference.

I have it on good authority from someone who was there that the spread afterwards was 'nothing to write home about', their words not mine!

I have it on even better authority that Sporting Benfica were excellent hosts and it was a pleasure to meet and associate with them. They have a very good side who were worthy of a draw and will do very well in this league.Change the record and leave them alone. Just carry on with your own special thread to slag me off!!!

What sauces, don't you mean sources. I was only passing on what I heard, namely that Sport London e Benfica's hospitality was pretty average last night and 'nothing to write home about'.

It's so good to see the Haringey Website carry a match report less than a day after a match has taken place, they even beat Sport London e Benfica to the punch:

What do you mean not working, is it down at the moment, unfortunately I don't have responsibility for updating it otherwise obviously you would already know what our players had for their breakfasts this morning and what colour under pants they had on.

Rhodes surely 100-1 for SLB to win?

Just interested:

How many spreads have you written home about?

Why would you write home about it, if you would arrive home within a couple of hours of the game?

Who would you write to, apart from yourself?

And what would be the point?

Mr Sugar, pretty clear and fair match report - please correct the spelling of Benfica 'not' Benefica. José told me that your party were very friendly and would have liked to have chatted more but obviously being a midweek game the times didn't help.

Sorry about being brief and intermitent with responses but unfortunately I'm not a civil servant!

So in other words the Haringey delegation beat a hasty retreat and didn't bother hanging around for long to chat and press the flesh, that's disappointing to hear as it wouldn't have taken them that long to get back from Hanwell.
Yes I heard from my source that the fayre was pretty basic and consisted mainly of sandwiches with run of the mill fillings like cheese, ham and tuna, I thought you were going to push the boat out for Haringey's visit.

Yes but it's a bit boring isn't it, considering Sport London e Benfica have their own 'alla carte', or so they lead us to believe, restaurant in the Harrow Road surely they are in an ideal position to lay on something really decent for their visitors.
