?Langford v Bigg Utd

Recommended Posts

Well, we looked top 6 material on last nights performance - the problems from Saturday having been quickly ironed out. However, consistency is the key. A nice gap in our fixtures now to get 2 training sessions in and prepare for a Langford onslaught!

I saw them at London Colney in The FA Cup Robbie, so we've done a bit of homework on them. They are tricky customers no mistake, they like to get the ball forward quickly and they get in round the back with some alacrity, mind you Lon Colneys right back was having a mare that day.

Have you got your first choice keeper back yet Robbie?

Oh - Jack Weeden MoM last night.

Thats a strange way to reply to the GK question Robbie.. Does that mean you dont want to give much away? Or does it mean both your keepers are poor?? Agree with Jack Weeden comment.. Seen him play a few times over the years at Wooton and Ampthill aswell.. He is one hell of a player and i suspect Utd are missing him aswell as Keith Thomas more than they realise!

Part Time - You must have missed the history on the topic, dont worry yourself. Yes we will miss Jack, but whether we will miss Keiths yearly total of ten goals is another thing, i dont miss doing his running thats for sure!

The following brief report appears on the Langford Website in what must be one of the results of the season so far:

No one could have predicted this score after the first 20 minutes where the visitors more than held their own, in fact both James Flack and ex-Reds Mark Holmes went close to giving United the lead, but after new signing Wes Byrne had hit the crossbar for Langford he was in action again steering home Gareth Grants free kick on 36 minutes to put the Reds one up.

Langford continued to create chances upto the interval but had only the one goal to show for their efforts at the break.

The start of the second half saw Gary Walker fire the Reds to two up, before Byrne went onto complete his hat trick with two more goals. Mark Holmes gave United fans some hope with a penalty after Mark Wright brought down Robbie O'Dell, but this was cancelled out in the last minute of the game with Joe Delasalle heading home a corner.

A terrific performance from Langford who if they can repeat the performance in the FA Cup against Potters Bar Town on Saturday aternoon here at Forde Park, they will make the whole club a riot of joy.

Team: Young, Carter, Till, Grant, Wright, Delasalle, Brown, Barnes, Byrne, Walker, Groves,

Subs used: Chamberlain, Willett, Skelton
