Again, mainly for those who live away & who are dedicated to this club & its plans. Also, for those who couldn't get a copy of yesterdays local. Just to keep you up to speed!

Thanet Times yesterday dated 28th August 2007.

Years of hard work will finally pay off for Margate FC when they begin the redevelopment of Hartsdown Park on MONDAY SEPTEMBER 10TH.

The July start came & went but keep the faith everyone because THIS TIME it seems there's nothing to stop the Blues.

They look certain to have beaten archaeological concerns by raising the level of the new five-a-side centre by 500 mm(20 inches).

That should satisfy experts from Wessex, who will be on site the same day as building contractors,to launch a dig.

The club have also been given the all-clear to build access to a temporary car park off Hartsdown Road, serving 50 motors.

Blues Director Keith Piper said :

"It's been a marathon & we've had to to back-track so many times to get things right".

"It's taken a lot longer than anybody imagined but you just have to lock into it & keep going. It's an exciting time for the club".

Piper confirmed that:

"The stand will be pulled down when the new stadium is built".

"But it was important the ground looked the part for when the eight five-a-side pitches are open for business".

Piper said:

"Everything was geared towards the opening of the fives,so we pushed on with the conversion work knowing we'd need it in place".

"The developers were keen that when the five-a-sides opened we had a good quality social facility available".

"We didn't want people to turn up to use the fives & then head off to their own pub because we had poor facilities".

"Because of that the developers were prepared to invest knowing that in six or nine months it may be coming down again".

The £600,000 five-a-side centre should take 12 weeks to complete, then Margate FC want to push on with building the stadium"

The Coffin End is set to be developed first & will include five-a-side changing rooms & offices, along with a government-funded computer suite to provide learning opportunities for children.
