HTFCONE, is that because Hertford are NEVER top of the table in the fist 10 games of a new season? !!!

I seem to remember you being top last season, didn't last long, I think the wheels came off at the WLG when after being 2-1 up with a few minutes left you lost 3-2.

Agree HTFC ONE. It's nearly impossible to know how strong your opponents are just from pre-season (fairly meaningless as far as results are concerned). The opening games in any league season are also unpredictable with holidays, new players bedding in and new ideas being put to the test etc. The form should even out though and as you say from ten games in then a better picture will develop. That isn't to say though that repeated losses in that opening period aren't devasting to anyone with title hopes.
