its not an overstatement to say that we could have scored a dozen goals at ashford........

 

we could have gone in against ricay at least two goals to the good at half time....

 

we could and should have score a couple more against harrow...

 

and yesterday we missed at least 6 REAL chances (not to mention a few long range wide ones)....

 

ashford had 4 chances and scored 4 goals...

 

ricay had two long range shots and both the blighters went in...they never got behind our defence once....it has to be said that they were the better team in the second half but had we taken our chances would they have been...methinksnot

 

harrow had two shots on goal and one went in off the post.....

 

swifts had just three shots on goal and one was a pen which was excellent and unstoppable..had we taken all of our first half chances then it would have been over with before the restart...

 

now the point of this cogitation by moi is not wishful 'finkin or eccentricity.....no...it is statistics.....on paper we look a lot better than our points tally and with a fairer wind and a keener match fitness eye we could have mopped up in the first four games....

 

now goals win games we all know...but having looked at the stats I am much enlightened...much heartened and downright bullish....

don't know about auntie having balls but you seem to have more than most at your gaff after they all crowed about their 15 grand a week budget and title by xmas and then scarpered when it all went wrong...

I think you have missed the point, it is the theorist that talks about the beutiful game being played on the deck and cloughies magical comment "if god had meant for us to play in the air, there would be grass on the clouds".

How many times have you seen or read that, the better team on the day, came away with nothing.

Well we have achieved a hell of a lot over the past few seasons, with more throphies than some teams have in all of their history.

 

No team has ever won the league in the first few weeks of August, so I am very happy with the way things are going, the team will gell and all hell will break loose.

 

Who would have thought that all of the favourites would have dropped points in August. PMSL.

By the way unc, Maidstone were home winners over Carshalton by 3-0, a good result for them to give them their first ryman prem points of the season. Harrow in trouble though and even at this early stage I think they are doomed.

I think Unc made some sound points and while statistics can be used to prove just about anything, the evidence on the pitch is that we have been good in bursts so once we sustain some good pressure and possession, we'll be able to convert a lot more of the chances we have been creating.

The team spirit is also very good and when we miss a chance, the players knuckle down and set about creating another opportunity. We're not bickering among ourselves on the pitch.

We have a tricky game on Saturday and with the right approach we'll give Chelmsford a good game.
