Match Thread v Paulton

Embarrasing, inept, pathetic, clueless, the list could go on. We will not even beat Newport on that "performance" and I use the word loosely. Could not defend for toffee, crosses too high for Miller even with a step ladder. Paulton were not a good team, they also mis placed too many passes, but we made it oh so easy for them. Had a good set up there. Good pitch and facilities. Saw Newport whilst on hols. They may be bad, but they work hard and play for each other, they are also all local lads, anything like us then? Browne went for quickest booking attempt, under 5 mins for two bad "tackles".

Hmm,

Where to start. We actually started quite brightly and the game was quite even with Charles having two good opportunities in the first-half but failed to make most of them count.

Then they score and suddely it's one was traffic. The midfield was non-existant and that is a big worry. George and Metcalfe don't work well together and they seem to follow each other. They were cutting through our midfield with ease. Second half from all was actually pathetic.

Up front looked a bit better with Charles, but not much. Still struggling on the right and again I ask why we have bought back ex players who were not good enough the first time round i'll never understand. I'm sure they are nice people, but not good enough if we wanted to go anywhere this season.

Still nothing on the bench, and unless Wilko makes some drastic personnel changes I fear the worst...

Admittedly I didn't see most of last season but that was the most pathetic attempt at a performance I've ever seen from a Slough side. Grandad is right, the list of negative adjectives is endless.

They couldn't pass, there was no movement, no retention of possession, no thought other than hoofing the ball to the flanks or worse to Matty who stood little chance against a strong and tall defence. Too many of the players I watched today are not even close to being good enough and as a unit they were horribly disjointed.

If they were half a decent side who took their chances it would have been six or seven. Terry's goal was very well taken but apart from the first ten minutes when we had two decent chances, there was only ever going to be one winner against a poor side. I used to vehemently defend non league football saying that it was actually a very high standard. This league isn't and Slough are bottom of it.
