A case to answer

After the teams 2nd half performance today where they basically threw away the game I feel a number of questions need to be asked - not only of certain players but also the teams management (Not management committee).

Personally I feel Wilko does not have the tacitical knowhow to push the team forward. His subsitutions thus far along with team selection have showed this. After 6 pre-season defeats and 2 league defeats something needs to change.

Woodruffe has a lot to answer for, I'm pretty sure a number of people saw his outburst after the game towards Davies for "Not scoring". How can someone who consistently goes forward and with his "stronger foot" 99% of the time waste a cross by slicing it out - Sort yourself out you prat!. His general attitute on the pitch also has something to answer for. Micheal Murphy get fit soon!

Its time for Daly to be stripped of the captancy. After being at fault for more than 1 goal this season and then to simply either blame other players or truge back to the centre circle strikes as someone who doesn't care.

I wont get started on Roddis...

It is in fact 9 defeats in a row, many against sides 2 divisions below us. Any side that looses 9 matches in a row must face the possibility of relegation, which is what we currently appear to be candidates for.

Woody is a disgraqce. I saw that outburst and it is unacceptable. He went MIA for six months last season and in my opinion should not have been allowed back. I maintain we have the nucleus of a good squad. CJ has impressed so Woody should go. Maybe it is the management. But Wilko is clearly hurt by those defeats.

I personally don't think we need to take as drastic action as some mention, but just need some fresh faces in new positions as I stated in a previous thread right midfield, attacking centre mid and a targetman (unless Charles fits that bill?)

Don't get me wrong, I think Wilko deserves a chance (judging him last season is unfair as he had little to no budget)

However one thing that worries me is our contacts if we want to bring in new players. We don't seem to have much of a clue. The new players this season & pre-season have been Murphy (ex Rebel), James (ex Rebel), Bubb (ex rebel), Browne (ex Rebel), Charles (ex hayes), roddis (ex hayes), perkins (ex hayes), hooper (ex hayes). I would have loved for our management to bring in some fresh enthusiastic young players rather than players coming towards the end of their careers (the hayes lot) and ex slough players who some of were not good enough at their first spell at this club.

I also think our pre-season did not help as many players hardly played pre-season. We had a patchy team nearly every game which was crap leading-up to the new campaign...

Ive been away in Plymouth this weekend, so havent been on here or at the 2 games we have played, but reading what has been said over the last few days has been quite interesting.

It seems that so far this season is running in a similar thread to last year, lots of effort from most of the squad, but little in terms of threat to the opposition goal. I was at the first 2 games of the season, and I must agree with some that the squad we have isnt being used effectively.

I think maybe its time to put Terry back on the wing, probably the right one, and give Faircluff a go up front with Miller or Charles, as he seems to have decent potenial that we cant afford to waste. With Terry on one side and CJ on the other then maybe we could get some decent service and some attacking threat.

We also need to keep the ball on the floor, passing it around and playing through balls to the forwards and wingers.

With regards to Woody's crossing, maybe he is trying to be too clever, I agree he gives it all and is dedicated to the cause, but the crossing is terrible. One possible way to change this is to get CJ to support him more when he reaches the goalline and put the cross in, or get him to drill the ball low instead of trying to aim it into the box?

Unfortunately we have ended up with too many defensive midfielders. We need to have one attacking midfielder and one defensive. I think George is most likely to change, and should work on pressing forward and leave Roddis or Mets to hold in front of the defence.

Haven't seen Mills this season, but last year he was one of our better players, and should definately be given a starting role every time. As slow as Daly is getting there is no substitute for his experience and heading ability. Once we get our hands on a couple of taller midfielders or forwards Daly should be able to hold back instead of going forwards, and make the most of his ability without needing the pace.

Oh well we must keep the faith, hopefully we can turn things round with a few small changes to the squad tactics. Lets get behind the boys next Saturday and try and inspire a cup win!

Playing against Terry a number of times and him usually scoring against my lot i think he is wasted on the wing, i would IDEALLY have him behind a front 2 in a diamond midfield. with a defensive midfielder of George & Mets behind him and Barts&CJ down the sides. Defense Mills/Harper/& 1 other depending on injuries/form.

So yes a 3-1-3-1-2

Martin got his team picked at Marlow so i hope i see mine on saturday. smile
