My dad's into birdspotting and would like to allay fears that the Red Kite is rare - it certainly used to be, but after being re-introduced to the Chilterns about ten years ago, it is now thriving in that area and in fact, many are captured to be re-introduced elsewhere across the UK... so I am reliably informed!

Anyway, as for the football - I only echo what most people have said about the game and our tactics. We are never going to win matches playing the long ball to Davies and Miller. It needs to be into feet. Miller will chase all day but cannot do that and score goals at the same time. At Yeading he used to bang in the goals by virtue of having good wingers who would feed low balls in - exactly what we lack.

I also have serious concerns about Steve Daly - either he's not fit or not fully committed. It's suicidal to come up for a set-piece then stroll back and watch as the opposition break. He might be our loyal captain but it's just not good enough.

As for Woodruffe, he just continues to disappoint me - I've never been a fan but every time he comes forward and gets into a crossing position on his supposedly stronger foot, the ball ends up behind the goal. Some of his defending is also very panicky. I really hope Murphy comes back to play for us because although Woody has pace, that's about all I see in him.

The RSPB say there are 460 pairs in GB. That is less than 1,000 individuals. While probably a bit of an underestimate, it still counts as rare.

They used to be one of the most prevalant birds on the streets of medieval London and were welcomed by the population as street cleaners as they were voracious scavengers and cleaned up any foodstuffs thrown on the streets!

At Marlow last season there were actually six of them flying around the ground and I've seen up to six pairs at once when driving around the Wycombe airfield/Stokenchurch gap area on the M40. A pair were recently reported in Windsor Great Park so it seems that initial reintroduction around the Wycombe area is reaping dividends and next on the list is the Buzzard which has recently been reintroduced on Salisbury Plain - now that is a big bird!
