Halifax

Not a classic but another very welcome 3 points and a good all-round team performance. Defence played very well especially given the height advantage of Halifax and the fact that we had brought in Goodhind and had to absorb a lot of pressure in the last ten minutes or so. I especially liked McPhee in the right wingback position he look very calm and assured and didnt seem to put a foot wrong all afternoon. Midfield worked hard and Long scored a great goal after good work from DeBolla. Moore chased tirelessly all game but I felt a bit sorry for Chukki who won very little in the air against the bigger Halifax defenders. Credit to Halifax I though they hussled and fought and didnt give us the time on the ball to settle to a passing game, with only one goal in it it was never going to be comfortable but we held firm for a hard fought win.

Well done to the lads, it was hot out there and all Halifax were interested in were stiffling our play and time wasting while we wanted to pass the ball about a bit. Nothing wrong with what they did but they came to do a job but it didn't work.

Gillingham also lost and are only deprived bottom spot because of Leeds points deduction.

And my accumulator won. £72. better off.

Oh Happy Days...

A decent performance today, against a Halifax side who didn't really have the finishing touch, when they got to the final third of the pitch they pannicked.

We played well, perhaps reverted to long-balls a bit to much in the first half but this is understandable given the heat. The defence played well, seeing as Hawkins and McCarthy had a new player alongside them, they seemed to have formed a good understanding in what little time they've had to form one. Goodhind (Apologies if this name is wrong, I got back from Amsterdam yesterday so haven't really had long enough to absorb all the news!) played well and seemed to be ready and able when called upon.

The midfield looked good today, Stacy Long and Mack De Bolla both seem to be benefitting from the fact Bostwick is there to pick up the pieces if they give the ball away. McPhee had another excellent game, he's looking more and more at home on the right of midfield. And a special mention must go to George Purcell, who had yet another fine game, he's looking like he'll be a force to be reckoned with this season.

Luke Moore ran his heart out again today and the defenders seemed to be genuineley afraid of him. Chukki was rather quiet today this may have been because of the heat or the height of the defenders, I am not too sure.

Lance is going to find it very hard to wrestle the number 1 spot back from Tynan who had another great game today.

One last thing: Where was Sacha today?

I have not posted for a little while, but still keeping an eye out for the Fleet results, and I was delighted to get a text from a mate to tell me the Fleet and my Scottish Team, Hamilton had won as well yesterday, after watching Charlton come back from 2 down at Half time. I have not had the chance to get back to Stonebridge Road for a league game yet and September is a bust month already but I will return at some point. Good that the team has won 3 out for 4 and are confounding some critics who said that last year was a fluke (Paul Parker please note). Hopefully the Fleet can keep on picking up 1-o wins. :-)
