Interesting in the Gazette today. We have to be able to adjust our tactics to combat playing teams who play the long ball game. On other forums they say we play the long ball game. Obviosly somehow we have got the repretation for ugly football

Also from the local today:

Meanwhile,Trott has released winger Nick Bagley.

The Boss explained his decision.

He said:"Its his positioning"."He's not been learning quickly enough & I haven't got time to waste".

"That's why he's switched from club to club".

"It's a shame because Nick's a lovely lad,he always turned up for training & was eager."

"I wish him all the best for the future"

To be fair, i think he is right about 'positioning'.

Remember Abbo last year-he was always in the right position to get the ball and take the simple pass.

Compare that with Aaron Robinson who was always in no mans land.

You can make a positive contribution to a game without even touching the ball by getting positioning right to cut out a pass to the opposition

Who says he hasn't put in the time.Theres only so much you can do to help though. There are other players in the squad that need just as much help & encouragement & to focus all on one player, one that is intent on not taking things on board, would leave less time for the others would it not, others that ARE prepared to listen, learn & want to improve themselves. So yes,it could well be a waste of time at the end of the day."Banging your head against a brick wall" comes to mind.

Admittedly his choice of words could have been better made but I can see wheres he's coming from on this one.

And before anyone says I am siding with Trotty again because I think he's the best manager we have ever had, then you have it wrong.Trotty makes mistakes too.I have put the guy down on many occasions when I felt he was in the wrong. Slough town away last season being the main one!

I similarly think that RT is on balance probably right re:Bagley and wrong re Barron but he is the one paid to make decisions and live by them.

He has imo had done ok in close season, excepting signing forwards and'wingers' all over the place when most pressing need was a strong experienced central defender followed by a CENTRAL midfield player-those are the pivotal postions and surely were so so obvious-particularly the central defender

he only scored 1 goal for us and missed a lot of sitters. Yeah he was on the youth books at Fulham, but then he dropped down to Kent league level where started to play his first competitive games. Bagley also started a few games last season and i feel he played enough football to impress and show improvement and in all honesty he done niether.

Working back on Baggers CV this is what I can gleam from it:

Margate Summer 2006- Summer 2007

Ramsgate January 2006 - Summer 2006

Hastings November 2005 - January 2006

Dover August 2005 - November 2005

Trials Wycombe and Gillingham pre season 2005/6

Fulham 2000 - July 2005

Chelsea 1998 - 2000

As he is still 20 since his release as an 18 year old by Fulham and by Chelsea as a schoolboy of 14 he has been associated with 4 Ryman clubs and has not stayed at any of them for long.

Now not doubting his ability (which must exist as Chelsea and Fulham are not fools) no one has managed to find it and bring it out.

Hopefully someone will and then this lad can move on and enjoy (which he obviously does) playing his football at his correct level.

Cue abuse from footballing fathers.

Bagley IS a talented player, but his attitude on the pitch is just not good enough. Seems to think he is so much better than this level of football. Another cocky youngster falling from grace.
