Contributions To The Playing Budget

With the concerns of last season and individuals contributing to the budget, it is something we could investigate this season?

I use Wealdstone as the example:

What do people think? Good/Bad? Interested? All money would certainly go straight into the budget rather than anywhere else.

Thoughts please....

Good Idea, however the issues raised by Roger are key to giving people confidence that the money was going to the playing fund and not "other" places.

I know I have raised the issue of ownership of the club previously, and with the new management structure now in place, it would now make sence that the club publically stated who owns the club and who is investing in it.

This needs clarifying as Thames Valley Sports has never traded and Frus has failed to present its accounts to companies house for a number of years.

Unfortunately, I do not have this information and the person I need to ask, Chris Sliski, is away on hols in Canada.

There is an account which Chris is looking after and maintaining which contains all the season ticket money, will contain all the marketing money and would potentially contain any contributions to the playing budget should this scheme start.

The club is owned by Thames Valley Sports & Leisure whose directors are Roy and Bernard. Martyn Deaner remains the main club sponsor. Common knowledge been stated on here many times.

Not that I'm against the idea, but I think it could be a bit risky. Theres obviously things to think about before making a commitment like that.

If people are committing money to the club, whats to stop them from wanting a say in how its used?

He will be RR, which is why the funding is largely coming from marketing, gate money and season tickets.

The more money we can generate through as many avenues as possible, the better off we will be as a club to move forwards and upwards.

To be honest, committing £23 each month is something i'd feel uncomfortable with. I'm not on a great deal of money and already pay £15-20 each time I watch them play (though admittedly that doesn't all go to them what with bar money and all).

Also, I'd want proof that the money was going towards the playing budget only - which would require a lot of work from the Treasurer if loads of us offer money each month.

If the amount of money which we could donate could be less rigid, I may be interested.

Only problem with that is you need a fixed amount coming in from each person to know how much you are adding to the weekly budget. If you have someone being non-commital and giving £5 here and there for example, it is money that you might be counting on which doesn't arrive.

Some interesting feedback though, so thanks to all those who have taken the time to post. Consequently, I don't think it is something which is going to gain enough support for us to make it worthwhile.

I appreciate that CT and also that many others would be in the same situation. I'm just thinking that every penny that goes to the playing squad would help Wilko out.

Not yet. Still waiting. Not even a panic yet, so see you all tomorrow!
