Robin Trott

Writing a report for my blog (see link below), I remembered one aspect of the game we've been missing. Like us ETU have a blend of experienced old hands (most with large waistlines too) and up & coming players. On the sidelines their Manager was constantly encouraging the youngsters - pointing them in the right direction and coaching them from the dugout.

That is the role we need to be played too. Robin is not so vocal, we need his experience on the sidelines, but we need it to be heard. The plan this season was for him to Manage rather than play, when Young was injured Smith should have come on ... Robin's involvement as a substitute should be last resort (5 - 10 mins to hold on to a lead or as second injury to a key defender).

But is the LS/DY combination good enough ?

To be fair on saturday, most of us said that RT bshould play against Chelmsford-and imo RT played really well in that game.

Whilst i agree he should be on sidelines, who can play there instead.

I just think it shows we all agree we need a class central defender to play alongside DY.

Where i do criticise RT is that having released/lost so many defenders in close season; this was so glaringly obvious from early May, but RT went mad signing forwards and 'wingers' instead; but the key postions of central midfield and central defence were not been resolved. If Jay goes back to midfield, we can solve that one (probably ),but we must get a experienced central defender
