News Update

We have now resolved the issues which were preventing our contractor from commencing on the 5 a-side centre as hoped on 21 July 2007. The contractor is now confirmed to start on 10 September 2007 and they are contracted to complete in 12 weeks.

At the same time construction of a new crossover off Hartsdown Road will commence, this will serve Phase 2 of the redevelopment and initially provide 50 temporary car parking spaces.

The social club, renamed The Hartsdown, is nearing completion of its re-fit. From Saturday 24 August 2007 The Hartsdown will open its doors to the public and both hot and cold food will be on offer as well as the benefit of our new big screen and sky sports package. Our present licensing hours allow us to open from Monday to Thursday from midday to 11:00pm, Friday and Saturday from midday to midnight and Sunday from midday to 10:30pm.

Kelly Saxon has been appointed as the new Bar Manager, Kelly was formerly the Assistant Manager of the Fayreness Hotel, Kingsgate. If you are interested in hiring The Hartsdown for a function please call Kelly on 07972 321789.

Whether things happen this time or not, a big thank you to the club for the update. Something we have all been crying out for, more updates on a more regular basis. Again, thanks MFC. Lets hope that this IS, at long last, the beginning of the action.

I can see the reason behind calling it "The Hartsdown" but surely if people don't go there it will indeed be "HEARTS DOWN" for some. wink Hopefully all those things that the fans have mentioned as being lacking in there will have been looked at & addressed. Only then will the club be worth visiting & the fans be satisfied. After all it is the fans that will be providing funds on a regular basis in there.Maybe it should just have been called "The Hart" as it SHOULD be the HEART of the club. Lets hope it turns out that way.

is great to have some news finally but i cant help but think that its the wrong location to be opening 7 days a week as a bar, i do hope im wrong and hope its a huge success but why will people make their way to 'THE HARTSDOWN' when it is just offering the same as any other club or pub?? full page advert in the adscene this week is very impressive shame we cant get that much space every week about club issues and games!!!

You make some good points there John.I haven't seen that advert. Very interesting,as you say, that they can afford one for the clubhouse but not for the club as a whole.Judging by the prices up there now they will find it very difficult to get customers in anyway after word has gone round,I would have thought.I dont drink,as you know,so that dosent affect me but with those that do I would imagine a local pub would be more fitting for an evening out rather than take journeys up to the ground every night & have to spend more for the same pint.

Some good points here guys. Its a very hard game is the pub business (I should know eh Cookie). Location wise it could be used as an advantage ? ie. We all know where the ground is ? And if they can pull supporters there before the game, for example offer a pie and pint dinner ? etc... I have not been in there yet but look forward to seeing what they have done. As for prices, I hpe they havent falling into the trap of "high prices to pay for the new fittings" as this should be a gradual gain and not a quick one...otherwise they will fall flat on there faces !

The most important thing about this is the 5 a sides being started. If I am not mistaken the money generated from them was going to assist with team building in the second half of the season. Unfortunately we are at least 3 months behind schedule, so will the money be there?

I think first question is how much money will the 5-a-side pitches actually make.

I hope the club have not been too ambitious in their forecasts.I don't quite see them as the panacea for all our woes, and expect it to be a couple of seasons before they really generate the kind of income expected.

I hope i am wrong and they are an overnight sensation
