Segregation on Monday?

Recommended Posts

There will be no segregation, this is non-league football and therefore no need.

Can I just remind supporters of both clubs that we go into this game knowing that come the final whistle there will be a result, it may be a win, it may be a loss or a draw. We know it will be a passionate 90mis with both teams and supporters wanting and trying their hardest to win. We know there will be the odd officiating decision we disagree with. We know there will be queues for the bar, for food, for toilets, we know it will be difficult to park, and it might rain. (Weather forecast is good though) We know its Blue Vs Red and during the 90 min’s us supporters will get caught up in the game.

But let’s not forget its just football, and that we are ALL non league supporters, lets enjoy the event, enjoy the rivalry, enjoy the banter, we might not like the result sometimes, but we are united in that we know and understand why Non league is better than the pima-donaship.

And let’s hope we’re in for a cracker.

I absolutely agree with you TC. Let's have some fun and some good old banter which we all enjoy. This is completely possible to do without having to expose the many kids and families that regularly support the Blues,to the foul language and aggressive threats that were evident on Tuesday night.

Admission to the match, 90 minutes of good solid entertainment (I hope), a burger, a pint and a programme, and STILL change out of £20 - where would you get THAT in the prima-donaship?

Just the ONE pint BC ?!? smile

No offence but some of the ricay fans in the first half who were in the eastside were shouting and screaming offensive material, thats football nowadays and society.Especially the two lads who were standing on a pillar and constantly giving v signs but at the end of the evening there wasn't any trouble or a hint of trouble its just banter.

"thats football nowadays and society"

Yeh who actually takes any notice of whats said from the crowd? The players don't seem to get too bothered and tbh i think that it adds an element to watching football yay ... if you don't like it move away, footballs a very emotional sport nowdays wink

I would disagree with the statement that 'that's football nowadays'. I have recently been to Premiership and league grounds and heard/saw nothing but very light-hearted stuff. Offensive language and aggression are not an integral part of football. Maybe they were in times gone by, but certainly not now.

What prompted me to post earlier was the reaction of one Billericay supporter to the Matt Game incident. The use of the word c___ and threats to put a player in hospital cannot, surely, be condoned. My feeling is that whoever it was should have been ejected from the ground.

Explaining the actions of people like that to my young child, (who follows Billericay as passionately as anybody on this forum), is difficult.

Surely there are limits as to what is acceptable.

On Tuesday these limits were, in my opinion, massively exceeded.

Hoops, we were on the opposite side of the ground to most of the Billericay supporters. It is not possible to 'move' within the ground to avoid anything.

I myself was also on the opposite side of the ground to the majority of the ricay fans in the second half and i heard no foul language whatsoever AR. Some moments in football games can be very emotional and people will say things in the spur of the moment. And about your young child he will grow up to learn such words its part of growing up. Im only 15 just now and ive been following billericay for a long time and have heard all sorts of words but i never use any inappropriate language whilst spectating.

Nobody should have to move to get away from that sort of language, it should not be used. I have spoken to certain fans in the past about the use of the c word and they understand that they are representatives of BTFC at away grounds and I don't think we, as a club, want to be associated with that sort of language. We have to put up with it from players every now and again and the sooner referees book players, the sooner we will cut it out.

I don't know who the individual was on Tuesday. People standing next to these fans should tell them not to use such language and as supporters we can police ourselves. I ask individuals to think twice about using this sort of language as we do have a lot of young fans travelling to away games now.

My dad took me to the terraces at arsenal from an early age, swearing was the norm,i was allowed to swear as long as when the game finished i didn't swear until the next game(well at least in my dads company)

If i did swear during the week, when i swore at football the following saturday he would wack me so hard i wouldn't swear the next week at all.

Most of the time swearing is just the passion getting the better of us.some people are more passionate than others others are more laid back. The passionate ones usually let offensive words slip while the laid back chappy stays calm unless they have rob styles as a ref in charge of their game.

Sadly I was standing near to the morons in the first half. I have been following Billericay for 30+ years and could not believe what I was hearing. I was amazed what was coming out of their mouths especially the ones who were hanging from the floodlights.

To be honest it made me embarrassed to be a Billerciay fan !

I am well aware of the excesses of some of our fans in the bad language stakes and without condoning it from the few perpertrators it does happen.....had matty got up as most players do after such incidents the much heard cries of.........

would have seemed funny...sadly they were crass....

but likewise I am also very much aware of the excesses of visiting fans...especially in the atmosphere that built up after matts unfortunate injury... and as much as you would perhaps like to think that your own ricay fans don't subscribe to said venacular both you lot and I know that you do.....we all do at times.....not right...we all know that...but it happens...

move on.....'twas a good night...
