Waterside is NOT a park, but a recreation ground. It already contains a fitness complex, a national standard athletics stadium, an International standard Hockey pitch with floods,and, about 2 million boggy football pitches. One more won't make a difference.

Probably got my terminology wrong. My point to MOBrien being that it is very similar to Gloucester Park. Mind you I haven't been there for a fair few years (gone past it a few times), not since playing for Chalvedon against Island Boys. Talking of which, I hope any plans don't interfere with any kids football that takes place there, or you might have 'you know who' on your backs!

How can you possibly accuse Mobrien or any other Canvey fan of being a NIMBY - Not In My Back Yard?

 

A NIMBY doesn't want development in his own locality - although he recognises the need for such development and wants it built somewhere else. Canvey fans WANT a stadium built in our locality, be it Waterside Farm or (more likely) Northwich Park (that's a retail park, not a children's play area). Read through the postings and you will notice that nobody wants it to be anywhere other than the island.

My accusations were pointed solely at Mobrien (Hence on my reply, re:Mobrien), who as a Basildon resident (probably near Gloucester Park), doesn't want our development, but is quite happy for a similar one some 15 miles away. Comprehend.

To help me, could you point me to Mobrien's posting where he says that he is against development of a football stadium in Basildon. I've seen the one where he thinks Billericay playing in another town would be a mistake (for what it's worth, I agree with him) but that doesn't appear to have anything to do with objections to the development.

No but they're the closest I've come to matching the burgers at Park Lane. Plus as Hampton don't get that many supporters no-one will mind a few 1/4 pounders going missing.
