get to a matchWhy a wednesday ??

Why on earth are we playing on a wednesday. I'm able to get to any match on a tuesday and we change to a Wednesday !!!!!

I can understand the clash with the model club, after all the club is making extra money But moving it to a wednesday when England are on the telly is a stupid move! People who would of been at the Windsor game will not turn up now, party because some of us are lucky/unlucky enough to be at wembley whilst others will watch it at home!

 

Steve or Malc did the club realise this when they set the re-arranged date and if so why didn't they put it to a monday?

There are a few reasons as to why it was moved to the Wednesday:-

 

1) Some players are unable to, even with a lot of notice, change theire work commitments around to make a game on a Monday. For most players, other than those who are self employed, it takes a long time to build up a relationship with their 'bosses' to guarantee early finishes on set nights.

 

2) Managers would rather go for the later date than the ealier to give the players more time to rest and to shake of any minor knocks.

 

3) I believe that there is a ruling that games have to be re-arranged within a certain amount of time of the original date.

 

4) Did anyone realise that England were playing? Maybe, maybe not. It's just one of those things that with all the different rules about changing fixtures you can't please everyone.

You shouldn't worry about a bloody england friendly. You should be following the team.

I actually agree. Don't get me wrong England V Germany in Berlin would be a must go to game but at Wembley with our new middle class, foam hand wearing, happy clappy, face painted, mexican waving, which one's Beckham crowd...I'm happy to give it a miss.

 

Out of interest why can't the model club move to another night???I know they always have had Tuesdays and the club makes a bit of money out of them but surely the football should take priority.

First of all I didn't actually realise that an England veterans team was taking on half the German squad in a meaningless friendly on this particular date so sorry to those who've wasted their money on Wembley tickets!

 

Historically it was the club that asked the model club to move from Mondays to Tuesdays to accomodate line dancing !!!, so the club [ie the directors] need to decide whether they leave things as they are or try to arrange yet another move.

 

Nobody at the club wants to play on a Monday as Malcolm has already pointed out because of possible injuries from the previous weekend which will have had no time to be treated. Other clubs play their midweek fixtures on a Wednesday and everyone seems to get there alright.

 

Just so everyone knows in advance and doesn't book tickets to watch another team, the midweek game against Bridgewater will also be moved from Tuesday to Wednesday for exactly the same reason!
