Surely five year olds would be admitted free anyway, have a heart, although that's obviously far too much to ask.

But the point is that you wouldn't have checked beforehand, you would have just made an assumption. He would have had to pay the full £28 admission fee for the Ghana v Senegal match last Tuesday, for example.

You're right for once in your life as I wouldn't have checked beforehand, if they had tried to charge a five year old kid to get in then I would have kicked up a stink and probably not gone into the game myself as a matter of principle. I remember the good old days when you could either give the guy on the turnstile a drink or your child would just squeeze through with you although admitedly they don't have turnstiles at Buckingham Athletic.
