NLP today

Did anyone else find the NLP a bit different today?

With regard to the Ryman Premier Reports, they might as well have been headed "AFC Wimbledon reports plus others and snippets".

The printing, especially those areas with joint black & white & colour, had me expecting a pair of those red & green 3-D glasses. Whilst I am not quite at the stage where I need to have everything in big print I did find it something of a jumble at the back with the small print.

I appreciate that the paper was only £1.00 today but noticing the "Available as e-edition online NOW" sub-header on the front cover I hope that ultimately the paper will not be reduced to such an extent that it becomes just an advert for the on-line edition.

Its alright, I suppose, if everyone is able to get online but on the other hand there is nothing to compare with a newspaper to sit down and have a good read. Especially if you do not have the facility to look at the online version or more important if you chose not to go online.

Any thoughts?

There are TWO papers out today The Non league paper(NLP)& the"new" Non League Daily(NLD). The NLP is still £1.40 & the "new" NLD,the one you are talking about,is £1. The original NLPs format is still as it was but I agree with you on the NLD. Very sparce in reports & as you say only AFC Wimbledon get a large proportion of the mentions.

The New Non League Today was a massive disappointment. I expected them to eclipse what the original NLP does to try to win the market but there is nothing in there to make me want to buy it again.

yet another reason for ensuring we get promotion to conf. south.

(plus a bit of extra money floating around in the Satsuma cup.

Mind you the £50-£90K conference national clubs will be getting from satsuma is all a bit serious these days

You're dead right Cookie - I picked up the NLD (as I now know it to be) from the same spot in the same place as I always purchase it and only looked at the words "Non League" on the front so even my supplier was probably not aware of the difference. I should have looked a bit closer I guess.

Still, won't make the same mistake twice! At least the NLP should be available locally tomorrow so I will have another go then.

Having now got my head together and read the header properly I have actually purchased this week's NLP and my view is that it is superior to NLD.

I suppose that it is just a matter of getting used to something - the NLP to me is akin to what some of the stage and music weeklies used to be when I enjoyed them as opposed to what they are now.

I guess it is down to what you are used to and what you expect.

My problem is that I expect to see lots about Margate and all the matches and less snippets.

Still, that's me!
