I thought the following, taken from today's Mail on Sunday Football insert and included as part of Ian Ridley's, "Sports Journalist of the Year" column might be of interest..........

"You may be wondering, having dipped into the results this first week, just who Ebbsfleet United of the Conference might be. They are in fact, Gravesend and Northfleet, the controversial name change apparently offering more marketing opportunities. This despite most of us never having heard of Webbed Feet or Ebbtide, or whatever it is. It's like the blame culture: I want to know whose idea that was."

Would appear that even non-supporters are not impressed by the name change?

You get what you deserve reading that piece of $%^$%.. Not known for accuracy - never lets the 'facts' get in the way of a story, especially if it has anything to do with teams outside of the Holy Grail that is the Premier League...

Sports Journalist Of The Year ? I want to know whose idea that was !

Judging by that pathetic paragraph then all of us on here should be nominated for the said award ! Nice to see that he is on the ball though....only taken him about 3 months to notice. He's probably not even heard of Eurostar either.

I will be going into print !!

Nice to see that Alan Parker had his letter published in the NLP today.

Cheers,

I have sent the following email to Ian ridley of the Mail on Sunday as follows:

Mr Ridley

You obviously did little research regarding the renaming of Gravesend and Northfleet FC to Ebbsfleet United.

Had you entered the word 'Ebbsfleet' into Google you would have found that a brand new Eurostar station has been built very close to the 'Gravesend and Northfleet' football ground and that the club and Eurostar have entered into a link that both helps to promote the new station (which will soon become a household name) and obviously has financial benefits for the club.

Very soon most people will be aware of Ebbsfleet and the club has taken advantage of its 'marketing opportunities'

A small mention about this in next weeks issue would be nice!

I must say I dont hold out much hope!!!!
