cor blimey....

I wasn't expecting that scoreline but what a game...played mostly in a monsoon...this game was not for the faint hearted....urchins looking like scoring everytime they attacked and both defences looking very zimmerframeish throughout the game....quality chances and goals from both sides as the play spread from one end to the other with tackles flying in everywhere on the slippery treacherous surface...a few yellows were brandished and a red or two could have followed but didn't...

we should have locked this game up at 1-4 at half time but didn't and I expect colin will not be happy with the way we condeeded the 3 second half goals in 5 minutes.....having said that we scarpered with the three points which is what we went for and many a team will underestimate ashford at their peril...they may be a little dodgy at the back but they are quick....play very wide and are not goal shy.....

my MOM was crossy who was everywhere and he started and finished...godders replaced macca...simon parker was also superb today...

well done travelling urchins...(200ish of us with an official gate of 205... grin) and well done colin and the boyseys..... applause

We've certainly had some tough encounters at Ashford in league and cup over the last 3 years or so. I'm surprised the weather was bad. Only very light rain towards the end of the second half at Kingsmeadow, which must only be 9 or 10 miles away.

Anyway, great to be back ain't it?

it was horrific...couldn't even see the planes taking off above us and it was bloody cold as well.....driving home to costa del essex the outside temp gauge on me old morris minor rose by 8 degrees....

and yeah.....its good to get back into it all and it was a real good day today.....its been a tough three years for us (no complaints).....but we're back... yay

First 45 was probably the best I have seen a Hornchurch team play under Colin.

Happy to have the ball, inventive; short corners, long corners, short free kicks, long free kicks.

Four suberb goals.

Second half................?

Whilst the conditions did deteriorate we let them back into the game far too easily. At 4-4 looked like they could have won; but long ball and Simon's predator instincts prevailed.

A definate game of two halfs.........but we have the points.

Bring on "Ricay"

It's going to be a long season, but it's going take a lot to beat zimmerframeish as word of the year!

TRS,no offence mate but you ain't met the urchins,This is one place none of you wimbledon numpties will fancy coming.

All pre season i have been watching football that is befiting to any ryman premier club.

When 4-1 up i truly believed that we had won the match. How wrong i was,it just reminds me how strong this league is,#

You may think wombkes are the nuts but after watching the first 45 of hornchurch, think again, the urchins are very much up for this, although i cannot possibly explain the 2nd 45,saying that i can guarantee knowing the managment and those involved. Will not happen again. If anyone has played a better 45 mins i would like to meet them

we battered ashford, only mistake was some of us thinking that was the end if the game,How wrong we was.I guess some of the urchin faithful have become complacent the last 2 years, but can you blame us,the last two years we have won by a canter, this year is very very different.Lets see ashford fight like they did against chelmo or ricay

I bet Alex ferguson went into his dressing room after losing 6-3 to southampton and told his players they would not win the league after letting in 6!!!
Guess what, united won the league that season. The most important thing is to win the game and that is what we done

Thanks for your compliments about our team's second half performance - it has cheered me up today and I'll agree to take your match report as tongue in cheek. Brilliant bit about the climate change protesters dropping their banners and running for cover! They will have got another soaking today.

We have a better squad than last year but all I hear about is everyone else in Ryman Premier has strengthened too - many with money behind them. In the previews no-one expects to be lower than mid-table - funny that - someone has to be.

Please make sure you beat all the bottom half teams this season -until we visit you (unless we are in the play off places in which case it won't matter!)

Your fighting spirit does you real credit. Most teams going 4-1 down would simply drop their heads and play out the remaining time. You did not do that and I suspect your team is a lot better than you think. We spoke to some of your fans after the game and very nice people they were too. Good luck for the rest of the season.
