Just got back.

An excellent days entertainment. Purcells goal a real cracker and Moore had by far his best game for the club. His work rate had to be seen to be believed.

We played pretty well on the break and soaked up a fair bit of pressure, even when they broke through our defence Tynan was bloody excellent!

I've seen us play more exciting football but taking everything into account I think it was all we could ask for.

On the way out of the ground several stewards congratulated us on a great TEAM performance, in fact everything that was missing from the Salisbury game on Tuesday.

Special mention should go to Chucky, McCarthy and Hawkins who played their socks off and thats not taking anything away from all the other players who did pretty much likewise.

If I was a Rushden fan I would be a bit disapointed in the lack of effort from their side. But sod that tonight, lets bask in a bit of glory!!!!

Well done lads!

Usual guff on their forum: "Worst team we'll play this season... things must be bad if we can't beat Ebbsfleet" .... yeah, especially an Ebbsfleet with seven players in the stand and not even on the park!

I see Mr Yeo was referee... he's usually woeful, how was he?

Ref was pants. But at least it was consistant for both teams.

The reason I would be concerned if I was a Rushden fan is that they appear to have a good squad but don't play as a unit. Their defence just seemed happy to hoof the ball out of play rather than distribute it, unlike ours which tried to play their way out of trouble. We did resort to a bit of the long ball on occasions but it was always when it was required.

While on the subject of our defence, I guess that someones had a word with Sasha as he was disciplined and above everything else he stayed on his feet rather than diving in to tackles which was a massive improvement on his attitude during the pre-seasons.

Good performance from the lads today. Wasn't the most attacking display of football I've seen, but the condititions cotributed to that.

Every member of the team did their job well and Rushden didn't seem to be able to penetrate the defence until they started throwing the kitchen sink at us, and even then Tynan was amazing (Most of his saves happened in slow motion, due to the fact I was so nervous and tense!).

Good performance in midfield and up front, where Luke Moore ran his socks off. He and Chukki are beginning to look a threatening partnership up front. His booking was unbeleivable, running at the speed he did, he was never going to dodge the ball that the steward literally chucked at him! (In fact, as my Dad pointed out, it took the ref longer to book the player for 'time-wasting' then it did to retrieve the ball!)

George Purcell had one of, if not his best performances in a fleet shirt and it was rounded off with a well taken goal. Yet again the ref's decision to book him for 'timewasting' was pointless, especially as he had only picked the ball up for a throw in about a second ago!

Bostwick did his job well today, looks to be a solid player, rather then an impact one.

Im here. Tv working and everything.

We played as a very tight team yesterday. George was involved from the start and was well supported by Luke and Stacy. Although at times we were a little hoofy , we were away from home against a team who apparantly suppposed to be on eof the better teams in this league. Bostwick slotted in well and luke did not stop running all day , though was a little disapointted in his yellow .

Looking forward now to Saturday and then Cambridge

I personally didn't hold out too much hope for yesterday especially after loosing Macdonald and Barret but we more than held our own and were very accomplished. Well done to the lads, Liam, Kimble, the staff, the directors and everyone.

I also didn't hold out much hope for the season after losing Charlie Macdonald and Ross Smith and wasn't sure which way things were going to go, I think now without those two players we will realise how good last season's squad was. We'll easily finish in the top half of the table if we play like that and then I'll take 442's season preview round to Paul Parker and shove it so far up his backside he'll be spitting it out for a week.

I agree with most of what has been said, we simply wanted to win and Rushden were second best to most things.

Everyone played so well and it is difficult to pick a MOFTM, I think Luke was one of the contenders, but then he got a silly yellow card. so the keeper got my vote, some of the saves he made were amazing, agree though that Hawkins, McCarthy and co all played their part.

Boswick did well, not looking super fit but to make it almost to then end and then only with cramp, good effort.

How I hate it when we win that the opposition fans say fancy us not being able to bear them, at least the manager was more gracious in defeat, well done him.

Well done lads and well done the 71 who made the effort, not a cheap day out for anyone.
