I've been reading with interest recently about the current size of our crowds, both home and away and i thought i would give my opinion on this matter. Logic (and common sense) would suggest that when a team is going through a bad patch they are likely to be low in self-efficacy (confidence) and will therefore need encouragement and SUPPORT to try and get them through it. However, it seems some supprters feel that when things are going badly they wont bother to turn up and literally turn their backs on the team OR turn up and do nothing but moan. However, when things do start going right again on the pitch you see the same faces re-appear again. Im not saying everyone has to go to every game cos i know it simply isnt possible (i havent been to every game) but it is frustrating to see how fickle some of our supporters our. LETS GET BEHIND THE TEAM AT HEYBRIDGE and hopefully we'll get a bit of luck that hasn't come our way over the last few games (aveley, kingstonian, bishops stortford) and get a positive result.

Totally agree Paul S. When the [censored] hits the fan most people bugger off and find conveniant excuses to stay away (don't like Calder etc, blah, blah, blah). But when a bit of glory beckons it's, "I've been supporting the Town for years". Check out how many familiar faces re-appear when we play Aldershot/Canvey. I thought the supporters of this club were better than that. But then again maybe not.

to be fair though, no one has turned against the players on match days. I cant recall any player receiving any verbal abuse or any real negative comments directed purely at the team. People may talk amongst themselves about their dissapointment and ways to resolve what they see as the problems, but have you ever heard chants of 'calder out; or 'sack the board' ? i think on the whole those of us that go to games do our best to be positive during the game.

would like to point out that during the last three games, which as we all know have been defeats for us, the players have not once, not one of them, come and acknowledged the fans that have bothered to turn up on a freezing cold night in the middle of feb. I know that the players are dissapointed at loosing but it takes them a minute to give us a clap and it makes me feel like they know i did my bit. it amazing how quick they are to do it when we win. sounds like a silly gripe but i just like to know the players appreciate us turning up despite them playing crap.

It's rumoured that Calder earns around £550 a week,Borg can't be much behind him either.I think the staff earn too much.What do most of the players get paid?

You've got it all wrong and you really have not got a clue whats going on at your club. I'm a player that has been playing at BTFC this season but was released some 6-10 weeks ago but I still keep intouch with the players and we go out Saturday nights ect, ect. I'm being told by players that are still playing at your club that if it wasn't for Gary Calder paying the players two weeks wages some 2 weeks ago and paying some bills that the club could not afford to pay the club would of been in all sorts of problems and the club may have had to call in the recievers. Gary Calder is doing all he can to assist your club, he may not be everybodies cup of tea but I'm being told by players that there the lucky wons being paid because Calder has not been paid for some 4 to 6 weeks. You should be looking at the real problem, if this is true and I think you'll find it is, the real problem is how the club is beeing run off the field by your board of directors and where the money has gone.

Let's separate the issues;

1. The Finances of the club - You cannot blame Calder for the financial situation assuming that he has Directors approval for all his actions. If his salary is as stated, then let's get off his back as this again was approved by the Directors. One Director has gone and we, the fans don't know the real reason. If Calder is paying the players then I think he deserves some credit for that. Get on Rod Moore's back to tell the truth about what going on – although, based on history, getting truth is unlikely to happen.

2. The playing situation - look at the record and you cannot say we have done badly in the league. The cups are a different matter. Best defense in the league and we haven't lost that many games. Now we come to the real issue, we are not pretty to watch based on Calder's defensive tactics. Calder's teams never score many goals – even before he came to BTFC. WHO LOSES OUT - THE LOYAL FANS. Look at Stortford last Tuesday, playing Mark Graham as a wing back, he was playing very deep most of the time which limits the feed to the strikers. The two strikers are alone most of the time with little help when the ball is hoofed up to them. The central midfield, which is weak at the moment plays very deep - to orders I guess -we are missing the runs of Martin Carthy into the box. Things can only get worse now as it's likely that Richard Graham and others will go, so if we continue with a back five we have no hope of scoring a goal. On Tuesday at Stortford, Calder went for the draw and as it did last year on many occasions, Chesham away being an example, the opposition scores and we cannot adjust our style to get back into the game.

The supporters will still be there after the Directors and Manger have gone. Let's find out the truth about the situation at the club - a Fans Forum. Let's get behind the players that are left who will give their best and I'm sure they will deliver some results.

This season has more or less run its course, what all supporters need to concentrate on now is what is happening to Billericay Town FC.

A fans forum is a must.

The chairman and board of directors need to be asked what are they doing for the club rather than what can the club do for them ie making them very rich if the stadium ever gets the go ahead.

The chairman needs to be open about the current financial situation, if we can't afford the players then sort it out. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

The players need to understand that the bubble has burst with regards to wages. I'd rather see a team of hungry youngsters playing for us and developing into a team than having it full of money grabbers who have no passion.

Lets not be sold on the idea that conference football is the be all and end all. I for one want to see entertaining football and goals not this dross that Calder calls football.

Higher level football does not mean better football.

I to have heard from an ex-player that Calder is helping to pay the players wages. Fair play how many of us would do the same where we work. We need to support the manager and players ITS THE CHAIRMAN THAT IS THE PROBLEM.
