Fleet Sign Bostwick

Recommended Posts

Ebbsfleet United have signed 19 year old former Millwall defender Michael Bostwick.

Fleet boss Liam Daish has drafted Bostwick into his squad following the loss through injury of Gary MacDonald and Neil Barrett in the opening two games of the season.

Bostwick had two spells on loan in the Conference with Crawley Town before being signed by Graham Westley for Rushden & Diamonds in the January transfer window this year. Bostwick left Nene Park at the end of last season after the arrival of Gary Hill as manager.

"In the space of four days we have lost two key players" said Daish. "This gives an opportunity for other players in the squad to step up and claim a place in the starting line up but we needed to bring in someone new because another serious injury would leave us stretched. Michael made 24 appearances for Crawley in the Conference so he knows what this league is about, and he also scored a couple of goals. He can provide cover at the back but he can also do a job in midfield, so he is the ideal player for us to sign right now."

Looks as if he could do the job. Still young, having failed to be retained by Millwall, and he is not afraid to make forays up front either:

"The goal seemed to give the visitors confidence. The impressive duo of Michael Bostwick and Dannie Bulman were leading from the front as Crawley looked for a second goal. Bulman shot off target while Bostwick’s attempt was comfortably saved.

Kidderminster still posed a consistent threat as the Harriers looked for an equaliser. Jake Sedgemore crossed for Christie but just like in the first half headed over. Ben Hamer was called into action in the 64th minute saving a difficult low shot from the usual suspect, Simon Russell. A deep cross to the back post which Harriers’ Michael Blackwood just about reached but his outstretched leg could only divert the ball over the bar. Andy White who was largely kept quiet through the game curled a shot wide. Michael Bostwick nearly wrapped up the points in the 88th minute but was denied by a fine save by Bevan in between the Kidderminster sticks."
