Brimmo 1 - 2 Harefield

Recommended Posts

Found myself bored at home tonight so decided to venture out and catch a game. Ended up going to see Brimsdown V Harefield.

Quite an event filled evening to be honest.

A rain lashed pitch making for tricky conditions and it bloody pee'd down for the entire 90 minutes!

Some comedy defending from both sides.

A red card for one of Brimmo's players (not quite sure what for, looked like handbags to me)

A ref (Mark Morris, Hertford) who looked about 12 years old and gave the decisions to whoever shouted loudest (Ive never seen a ref so intimidated before and seeing as Brimmo and Harefield are 2 very physical teams it made for some extremely angry benches.) I think he may have been being assessed cos i spied some geezer with a clipboard who I'm sure I've seen before doing ref assessments and if that's the case, we may not see young Mr Morris in this league again for a while!

Brimmo's manager got kitted up and brought himself on at half time and looked the best player in their team!!

Some of the most undisciplined players i've ever seen in my life, telling their own team mates and managers to eff off you "c" etc etc.

A cracking free kick from Reece Prestedge in the final seconds of the game, curled into the top right hand corner to make the score a bit more respectable for Brimsdown.

Noticed that the Brimmo physio is quite fit.

Also bumped into Gordon Boaetang (apologies for the spelling Gord!) and had a nice chat with him, as well as spying Broxbourne manager/coach Tony Faulkner in the stands, checking out the opposition.

The game finished 1-2 and I have to say, on that performance, I fear the worst for Brimmo. Early days of course, but i think the final score flattered them and I didnt recognise them from the steely, determined side that they had last season.

Good job they're not marking them at Step 6, we had one on Tuesday who just wasn't physically capable of keeping up with play.. even I was quicker down the line than him and that was just jogging!! (Those that know me will understand how slow that makes him...)

I was there with Tony Faulkner!!

Harefield were far superior to brimmo all over the pitch, should and could have won 4-1.

Tan Tezal got sent off, and they took Jason Coughlan off at half time, strange to say the least!

I expected a lot more from brimmo to be honest

I think this was pretty much everyone's impression as soon as Gordon Boateng drove out of the car park for the last time, down Goldsdown Road and turned right into Green Street.

Cec, this whole thing really has you bugged doesn't it, you keep returning to it like an old well thumbed porno mag.

Are you saying that Gordon should have stayed at Brimmo for the rest of his life? When IS a good time for a manager to leave a club in your humble opinion? Or is it never?

You are clearly saying that Gordons departure has had a huge detrimental effect on Brimmo - that initself proves the point about his talents and how he would naturally want to better himself and grow as a manager.

BTW, the team your mate Ash left for family quality time reasons (and yet he popped up at another club straight away) - are they in the doo-doo or doing alright without him?

I'm not disputing Gordon's talents as he is clearly a good Manager, obviously his sudden departure has hit Brimsdown Rovers like a bolt out of the blue and I doubt they will recover from it, certainly not in the short term.

I think you are the one with a bee in your bonnet concerning my comments, I still feel that Martin Ash is a far better all rounder than Gordon but then that's the beauty of this Forum as it's all about opinions at the end of the day.

And your opinions are rapidly diminishing in status and credibility day by day... if it's actually possible for them to get any lower!!

NeutralFan - Why do you say that, what example are you basing that on as you don't even know Martin Ash to make a judgement.

I'm sure there are many examples that NF, myself and others can choose from. Here's one from less than 90 minutes ago!

Yes, you did!

Football Man - Yes but they didn't come to talk to us about money, that's my whole point, how did we know that's what they were after as for the sake of them leaving the Club we may have been able to come to some sort of arrangement.

So Cec, back to an original question I posed. What excuse will be vaild for 'The Great One' to leave Kentish Town in your book as you are clearly heavily aggrieved that Gordon left Brimmo to better himself? Will the Great One 'escape' on an excuse of more family time or will you allow something more believeable? Or perhaps you are expecting him only to be able to leave in a box?

Wader - What Jock Stein style you mean. We have to pinch ourselves every day of the week at Kentish Town to ensure that we don't wake up from our slumbers and find 'the great one' was just a figment of our imagination. Clearly we don't expect Clement to remain with us in the long term as he has his sights set firmly on the Nigeria National Team job, I'll be very surprised if he is still with us next season.

Hello! Earth calling Cecil, come in please!

The penny still hasn't dropped has it! If it's ok (indeed expected) for The Great One to booger off in order to further his career, how can you possibly slag off Gordon B for doing the exact same thing?

Yes but with all due respect to both you and Gordon, there is a World of difference between the two and it is like comparing say Brian Clough mangaing Forest and his son managing Burton Albion. You're forgetting that 'the great one' is doing us a favour by working at Step 6 level and is selling himself short when he used to be chief cook and bottle washer at Charlton for example, albeit at Youth level. I think you should just drop the argument once and for all as it seems to be driving you mad, like I said you are allowing your heart to rule your head where your friendship with Gordon is concerned.

...unlike you of course when defending your mate Ash!

We'll see what becomes of The Great One in time no doubt. However, your argument holds water rather less well than a collander might.

For that reason my case is not rested, indeed it now has Duracells fitted and is raring to go. For you I think this is more amari aliquid for some strange reason.
