Just found this. Nebraska by Springsteen. Recorded while he locked himself away, depressed, on an old 4 track tape recorder. They could never get the tracks to sound as good and moody when recorded in a studio, so just left it as it was, which is why the CD sounds like it was recorded on a 4 track tape recorder in someone's kitchen.

Someone mentioned The Coral earlier, heard White Stripes & The Corals new singles yesterday.

 

Both sound very good, the stripes one is probably my preference, "seven nation army" but the Coral one is how you would expect them to sound, but nonetheless very worth getting.
