Right then folks, the greatest albums ever. I'd limit it to 1 each but then we would only have a list of about 30, so as many as you like but they have to be excellent, not just very good and I will start the ball rolling with

Carter!!! No not Carter. Classic lps. How can you say Coldplay are overated and then say Carter have recorded 3 of the best albums of ALLTIME!

Glad to see someone else appreciates The White Album

Because Coldplay are churning out basic middle of the road stuff, it's all very nice but hardly original, 10 years ago they would of been put in the same bracket as Genesis and Deacon Blue.

Carter whether you love them or hate them churned out some very original music with some of the best lyrics of a generation, some think it's just noise but you can't fault the originality. When said albums were released people sat up and listened.

Carter churned out nothing that Chas'n'Dave weren't doing ten years previously.

 

Yes, MKJames, The White Album is one of the all-time best without doubt.

 

Love The Stone Roses, but The Second Coming isn't a patch on the first one.

I suppose Oasis were dead original as well!

 

Apart from your "amusing" chas'n'dave reference can you name a band who sounded like Carter before them

I don't think Phil Collins is capable of writing a record like The Scientist. Then again Coldplay probably wouldn't do a particularly good version of Land Of Confusion.

AS - FHOIIAR - fantastic album, very few have heard. I can't fault any of the songs.

 

I - 100 BW - Every song's a gem

 

S - FSF - grossly under-rated, ignored album. Very good.

I had the 1st 6-track idlewild album - fantastic. I think it was called captain but I'm not 100% sure. If anybody knows how to get hold of their very early single Chandeliers i would appreciate it. Thanks.
