Just finished reading 'A Drink With Shane MacGowan', written in question/answer form by his long suffering girlfriend.

 

Despite his pro IRA beliefs, a very entertaining book that covers everything from his childhood in Ireland, his drug and alcohol abuse, 'The Pogues' and Taoism.

 

All time favourite book, without a doubt is 'Shogun, by James Clavell, very enlightening.

I've also just finished Stupid White Men, good book. If anyone's interested in that sort of field then try (the now quite famous) No Logo by Naomi Klein or The Mcdonaldisation Of Society (can't remember the author. Both very eye-opening!

 

Someone got me the Kurt Cobain journals for christmas but I've thus far refused to read it on the ground that I think it's a bit sick and fairly shameless cashing in, leave the poor bloke alone....

 

On a lighter note, The Highway Code and Official Theory Test have made quite decent light reading of late...

Well, I have been totally absorbed by ' Mi Revalueshanary Fren' Selected Poems by Linton Kwesi Johnson, since I received it as a birthday present from my darling wife in february

 

Surely Linton is the 'alternative' poet-laureate!
