Today marks the 39th anniversary of our 4-1 Southern League Championship Match* victory at Writtle Street.

Manager Almer Hall described the performance as one of the best in his term as manger of the side.

* Our first since the 6-2 thrashing of Ipswich Town in September 1937. A year earlier, Margate beat Plymouth Argyle Reserves to claim the trophy for the first time. For some reason, this information doesn't appear on our entry in Wikipedia. Neither does the defeat, on penalties, at FGR in 1998 or the home victory over Worcester City in 2001.
