Correct Ian. Though it would be foolish to get too carried away with these last two results. Friendlies, chopping & changing players, both oppositions not causing too many problems,BUT the work STILL had to be done & it was done well both times. Plenty of "positives" came out of both games I thought!

Very impressed with Coleman, also like Akinde very much, Owen much improved on the last time I saw him. I like Side for his positional sense and a lovely touch on the ball. Harte and Young looked good too.

Was pleased all round with the team today, and am feeling quite upbeat now with what we have going for us into the season. Goals will come from all over I think, rather than one specific target man. Work rate was very high, despite the blistering heat.

Trotty has assembled us a useful squad, I think.

The one downside, we still lack a poweful and experienced centre half. If we had one of those I would be content, we probably will not score as many as we did with Danny, so we do not need to concede so many either.

nice to hear of some positive stuff , maybe Trotty has finally started to become the manager we have all wanted him to be , and he seems to have bought players to the club which could just do the job that we are expecting of them . Last year we had a fine squad but we knew the likes of Danny , Pat , Proths would up and go for either wanting to further there carrier`s or just wanted out completly . Maybe thats why we never achieved what we really should have last yr but this team seems to be more about a group of players that seem to want to play footy as a complete unit .Rob just seems to be enjoying his game now and with Young and Harte at the back doing a fine job i can maybe see us doing more this season than last yr. If you have 11 committed players on the pitch then your already winning the fight so lets hope they can all prove there worth there contracts and win us this bloody leaague or win us the playoff`s , good luck MFC for the coming season . Up the Gate.

Rob was great, needed two or three on him to shut him down.

I will say a word or two of praise for Baggley too, I am not one of his greatest fans, but he gave it a lot of effort today, and showed some good moves and touches.

I have not mentioned our regular squad, because they all played as we know they can. Jimmy and Pinns' goals were both quality. Akinde made the assist on the third, and won the pen for the fourth. He does not know the meaning of lost cause.

Well played the guys-just hope we have not peaked to soon.

I wonder who-if any-RT will give a contract to out of Owen,Coleman,Watson and Akinde.

I feel you really need a strong squad for first 3 months when games come thick and fast

Maybe all 4 with Akinde and Coleman just on a 3 month loan.

Remarkable is'nt it that by end of August, the league season is one tenth over.

I was impressed by Akinde's determination. I like his look, the way he carries himself.

Also liked the way Owen put himself around.

Coleman didn't get passed his man often enough but was OK.

I was impressed by young Axon, he never stopped moving pulling his marker all over the place.

I agree we need a good centre half to get Jay back into midfield.

Second half it could have been 10.

Not there but seems good again.

Could Owen be our 'extra midfielder' if Jay is destined to play in defence.

I also read that ex Wimbledon midfielder -Robert Ursell has fallen out with carlshalton-he's got talent-was,nt it (probably falsely) rumoured that he trained with us a couple of times last mid-season.

Is Skinner injured ?

Interesting that we plled away in second half despite the assumed multiple substitutions.

Does that mean we are pretty fit this season and fitness was a factor-or pure quality ?.

Looks like Owen,Akinde and Coleman all need to be signed-but will he and can they be afforded.
