Best wishes for today and the coming season.......

Recommended Posts

The first day of the season is always very special isn't it? When I got up this morning the old 'tingle' of excitement was there in abundance. I suppose if I lose that on match days I'll stop going. Optimism is the order of the day, with dreams of a good start, a decent Cup run and a high league position in May. No matter which team you support everyone feels the same. (Even my mates who are Leeds Utd fans feel it!)

In a more sober note I'm very sorry that Charlie's gone, losing a prolific scorer is always a blow but at least I can look forward to seeing him in Southend Utd colours in League One this year. Not that that's much consolation. And Leaveing Sodje is sad of course, he apparent played a blinder after coming on as sub for York last week.

Generally the first game is so packed with positive vibes, even if it goes pear-shaped (Huddersfield Town have only one their opening fixture on 6 occasions out of 21 attempts) we all know there's another 45 games to get it right. But then again if we get off to 'a flyer' the excitement reaches incredible heights.

So Good Luck today Fleet. Another name, another milestone, another season and hopefully another promotion!

Regards to All!

That's more than one message you've managed to fire off from Turkey. Are you like me in Slovenia last year - sneaking onto the balcony every moment the other half is otherwise engaged & hitching onto the hotel's wireless connection? Risky business. Captain Laptop nearly became a victim of computercide via falling from a great height, when bad wife caught me listening in to commentary instead of getting ready to go out.

Thanks for the message, BB. Good luck against Walsall.
