Groundshare to go ahead

Richard Macey

The Romford Recorder reports that the council has agreed that the groundshare between AFC Hornchurch and Romford will go ahead at the The Stadium.

Cabinet councillors have now unanimously agreed that arrangements should be made for the clubs to move in together from the start of the 2008/9 football season.

Full story on page 17.

The story in The Romford Recorder reports that the council had been assured during meetings with league officials that both clubs would still be eligible for promotion.

Spuddy me ol mate, thanks for bringing it to my attention.

As a fan I just hope the likes of Clr Linda Hawthorn and Michael White know their facts.

Indeed Mr Colasanti should also know what is what as well, as he has reported incorrectly in the past.

Basically, the Councillors know nothing about the Stadium that has been maintained by AFCHX staff for the last few years.

Indeed, every time an article appears in the Recorder the Council men suddenly turn up and empty bins etc.

Floodlights were out for months, despite Mr White stating in the Recorder that they have a duty to maintain the Stadium.

Just look at the situation if the Boro were to play there, what do they have?

A pitch! Changing rooms!

Nought else!!

Basically, the Councillors should take a long hard look at what they say and do before making comment.

we have however now decided to remain at the bridge until we have built our new citadel which could of course take 20 years to go through havering boro' planning...in the meantime we shall embrace the new groundshare discussions with much neighbourly gusto as they evolve and our lawyers are eagerly awaiting the first draft of the trust agreement with regards to the proposed groundshare management and funding 'tween us..thee and the athletics club....

As an outsider Romford fans remind me of one of those toy yapping dogs. Every month or so, someone gets it out of the box, winds it up, and lets it go, round and round yapping away "groundshare, groundshare, groundshare" Then the key winds down, when somebody mentions reality like "finance".It then gets put back in the box, ready for next month.

Maybe they can sell little blue and gold ones in their club shop.
